MODESTO, Calif. - The parents of condemned murderer Scott Peterson hired two noted attorneys to begin his appeals.
"Since he is innocent, we don't want him sitting there any longer than he has to," Lee Peterson, the former fertilizer salesman's father, said Tuesday.
Peterson was convicted Nov. 12, 2004, in the murders of his pregnant wife, Laci, and the fetus she carried.
Death sentences are automatically appealed in California, but it can sometimes take several years for inmates to receive a state-appointed attorney.
Peterson's trial lawyer Mark Geragos could have handled the appeals but said he felt the case warrants "a fresh set of eyes."
The Petersons hired attorneys Cliff Gardner and Lawrence Gibbs, who represent the Menendez brothers, convicted of murdering their parents in Southern California in 1989.

I'm sure they don't see it that way. It's just sad...all around... how many lives are ruined.

Whats a "Clymer"? I did not find it in the dictionary. From Jonah Goldberg in National Review:
At a Labor Day rally in Naperville, Illinois, George W. Bush spotted Adam Clymer, a veteran political reporter for the Times. Gov. Bush believes that Clymer's coverage has been decidedly negative, especially about Bush's record in Texas. Bush turned to his running mate, Dick Cheney, and said, "There's Adam Clymer a major league [expletive]." To which Cheney replied, "Oh, yeah, big time."

In all fairness to Geragos, he did keep Winona off of Death Row.

That is the most horrible thing I've heard from a Freeper. His parents had nothing to do with the murder. By all accounts they are good people. So all parents of murderers should suffer? You're sick...and I bet you call yourself a Christian as well Look at them. Look how they continue to defend him, despite the overwhelming evidence against him. Look how much pain they personally caused Lacy's family. If they were to show some embarrassment at Scott's actions, then I might have some sympathy for them.
I reserve my sympathy for the victims and their family.
Did I hit some sort of nerve? If my post was close to home, I apologize.

My sympathy nerve was stretched much too thin this year.
I think Tookie pretty much snapped it.
I'll try to be more generous in the coming year.

If my child took the life of someone's else's child (even without the life of my grandchild!), I would still love my child; BUT I would not torture the other parents with this kind of crap. I would remind my child that he did something abhorrent, and he would have to pay the consequences. I understand that you feel differently; but please don't criticize the rest of us for a difference of beliefs.

They obviously think he's innocent...what is so hard to understand? Who knows what he's told them. There are alot of things WE don't know too.

And another thing...you don't know what you would do. One never knows what they would do until they are actually in the circumstance you are rattling off about.

You are not alone in not knowing that. I call people "clymers" all the time and no one knows what I mean. ;^)

Also, Geragos might be afraid that it will reveal just how incompetent he is.

So Geragos and Scottie's parents think their boy is innocent. Where's their outrage? If he's innocent, why aren't the authorities continuing the investigation? If Tookie, O.J., Mumia, Peltier (and a million of others behind the bars) are all innocent, then why no investigations to find and punish the real culprits? If they're all innocent and no further investigations, then we are really living in the most corrupt country on the planet! Where is the outrage? It doesn't follow. Phoney baloney, if you ask me.

From the evidence given at the trial, If I where a juror, I would have voted for "not guilty".
I know that makes me a freak on this web site, but it is just my conciouses.

Just when the Natalie Holloway/Aruba story was hitting the wall. This should keep the Greta Van OJ show on the air a couple more years. If you have any zots left Greta could use one as well.
