I hope everyone will join me in complaining to them until they change it to something other than a spiteful attack on the Christian Faith.
The contact information for dictionary.com can be easily found on their website, the people at Princeton seem to like to hide (in typical liberal fashion) but i found an email address that can be used for such purposes: suggest@princeton.edu
-------------------------------------
I looked up the word "inferno" on dictionary.com. An entry I see is giving an example of "inferno" defining it as "when you're alone Christmas is the pits". The source you are providing for this entry is "Wordnet" by Princeton University.
With all the hundreds of examples and possible definitions anyone could have given for "inferno", the writers had to bend over backwards to come up with a "Christmas" sentence. Shame on you for using this entry, what you and they are effectively doing by providing this example is taking the birth of Christ (Christmas) and shoving it into the definition of hell. You know what you are doing is wrong, now fix it asap and remove the inexcusable Princeton University definition as well as review all your other Princeton reference materials.
In addition, I for one have actually spent one Christmas alone and it was nowhere near an "inferno". There is more to Christmas than being with people, there is also spirituality involved, and this is very insulting to religious people. It is extremely spiteful and Anti-Christian.
I will be forwarding this to the freerepublic.com message boards and advise all my friends and family against using your website until the entry is changed to a definition that is not so outrageously insulting to any segment of the world community.
Do I have to boycott their daily crossword puzzle too?
I usually go to m-w.com, but I haven't looked up "inferno."
Hmmmm. Well, this may not be THE dumbest thread ever started on FR, but it's up there.

A place of fiery heat or destruction.
You've survived FR almost a year. Goodbye troll.

Maybe you should just buy a nice dead-tree Webster's, and switch to decaf. It will add years to your life. Fighting everything you find offensive on the internet is like tilting at windmills.

Is it possible to boycott something you've never heard of or use or care about?
A bit of a stretch, IMHO.
If you scroll down farther, you'll see where it mentions
"Christmas." I almost missed it too.
I've spent a Christmas alone before, and let me tell you it was the worse day ever in my life. So if it true that that was hell then I may start going to church on Sunday.
I don't see the outrage, but I guess I could be missing the zinger.
And Christmas IS the pits when you are alone.
I don't know what I'd do without this little baby:

Much to do about nothing?
Whatever, scooter.

That is rather odd!
