Scooop.net (www.scooop.net), a next-generation media site based on democratic voting principles and active participation of its members, released the results of its weekly Hot Topics survey held last week which asked whether the U.S. government has gone too far regarding the domestic war on terror. When asked whether the U.S. should authorize the National Security Agency or Central Intelligence Agency to provide surveillance of U.S. citizens concerning the war on terror, almost 50% of women said yes. Men who were surveyed were not so willing to allow the government the right to monitor U.S. citizens. Of those men surveyed, 56.2% answered no when asked the same question.
Scooop.net conducted its Hot Topic study to gauge the level of support that Americans possess regarding tough anti-terror measures, many of which are contained in the Patriot Act.
When asked about what types of communication one would allow to be monitored by the NSA in the event that they were conducting surveillance of a suspected terrorist who is a U.S. citizen, 82.9% stated that monitoring should occur on email, telephone calls, and hand-held wireless devices.
The majority of Americans do consider that President Bush was justified after 9/11 in authorizing the surveillance of U.S. citizens , who were suspected of terrorist ties, without secret court approval but only by a small margin. The gender gap was somewhat apparent concerning this issue as 52.3% of women side with Bush and only 49.5% of men favor Bushs actions.

It used to be the other way around. I think it's the "security Mom" effect. Note also that the "majority of Americans" think Bush is justified in authorizing the surveillance of people with suspected terrorist ties.
It also depends on how you ask the question -- 83% of the people thought it was just fine to monitor e-mails, phone calls and wireless messaging.
I'd guess this was an unscientific poll, given the above.
Still, the results are surprisingly positive for the Bush policy.
This is the reason that the RATS are playing with dynamite. They are driving most electoral factions to Bush and the Republican Party. We can only hope that they carry on their folly.
I have personally spoken to Republicans distanced from Bush who are 100% in favor of Bush and the wiretaps. The more the nut balls complain, the higher the Bush ratings go. Let's just hope they keep this up throughout 2006. It will make the fall a lot less interesting.
With universal surveillance, maybe women who are "independent" from marriage and all of that abandoned patriarchal stuff will be safe. Everyone will worship goddesses and live happily every after.
...not.
Why can't people figure out the difference between THEN and THAN?
Good point, 10 lashes to me for not having noticed it. I usually just cut and paste the title. This one was too long, so I cut out the middle, but they were the ones who screwed it up.
I guess journalists are illitarate too, to reflect the general population.
Real Men..don't vote Demoncat.
If the Security Mom's come out in Nov. The Dems will lose more seats in both houses.
Women are smarter than men...but don't tell the men that lol!!!!
It would be easy to misread the headline:
"More Women Favor a Tough Policy of Domestic Terror and Surveillance of Men
Now who was that lady who was searching the local bars for her husband? Sir, you'd better go home right now!
"I guess journalists are illitarate too"
I take it you're a journalist, then?
"With universal surveillance, maybe women who are "independent" from marriage and all of that abandoned patriarchal stuff will be safe. Everyone will worship goddesses and live happily every after.
...not."
It's probably just women who are silver anniversaried Moms with military sons and daughters and all of the God and Country stuff who pray this country will be safe. Everyone will say the Pledge and live happily 'every' after.
It could happen.
I wonder if that Bareback Mountin' movie about the two homosexual sheepherders has anything to do with this.
bttt
.......... and their/your olfactory nerves are better too. Women can smell a beer on a man from 100 feet away.
Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.
-Benjamin Franklin
There were no terrorists and no nukes in Ben Franklin's time.
No, I can spell, my fingers don't type too well sometimes. ;)
"No, I can spell, my fingers don't type too well sometimes."
LOL
Kudos cubed!
And ANYWAY and ANYWAYS and WHETHER and WEATHER, to begin a long list of illiterate usages. But after reading "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" I wonder if I'm a Stickler? Up the Pandas!
