For the past few months, I've been busy mailing Christmas Trees and packages to Afghanistan and Iraq, so I haven't had the time to visit WR or BNH as much as I would like. After New Years I will make sure I visit them more often

The handmade flat lacey ornaments that I sent to MJY1288 were sent to me by a lurker (SS), whom I have yet to write a thank you note to. I sent the others she made to Landstuhl Regional Hospital in Germany and Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo.

I took a picture on a disposable camera of them, but haven't used up the roll yet to get it developed so I can get it posted on our care package thread for all to see the ornaments.

Hpefully I'll do both soon after I finish my CME exams for 2005. Now that my nephew is winging his way back to Alaska, I'm back to my long list of chores.

I had a wonderful Christmas. Hope everyone else did, too.

The ornaments sound lovely and not difficult for troops to manage. How very nice of the "lurker" to do that for our heroes!!!

Thank you for all you do!!

Friday is the worst night for me. I own a body shop that promises the customers that they can get their vehicles back before the weekend and I'm usually tied up until well after 6:00 PM. Plus... I'm not the protesting type, I have a short fuse and I would likely give FR a bad name when I lose my temper with Code Pink and physically take all of their signs from them and dare them to stop me.

Back in 1980 I was on 16th street countering the Iranians who were protesting the United States and I was taken to jail for snatching a sign from an Iranian protester who shook it at me and beating him with it. As I sat in the Police station I watched the DC police thump almost every one of them :-)

I was set free after paying a small fine

I love your passion - I'll gather the bail money, come on out! ;*)

However, protesting is not what I meant. I will FReepmail you the details.

I am guessing that the boys were probably close to about 2 & 3 1/2 in that picture and they are almost 19 & 20 1/2 now.

I had been working on putting slide shows together and have lots of pix to scan. HOping to make a slide show for Everett in time for his 19th birthday next month.

That was actually a Yahoo one, someone joked on the dose that they must have been lurking here and got the idea from the many posts of the faces of George W Bush.

Thank you so much Mike. What service did you send them through as we have a notice on our door for people not to knock so as not to disturb dad as he sleeps downstairs and often rests during the day.

I expect they will put a card through the door but it would be helpful to know if it was interflora etc.

Thank you for that. I'm okay, it's just when pictures get taken of me....I look so tired. I got my bifocals updated. I never used to wear them before...I was squinting to see everything. Now, after only wearing them one day, the darkness under my eyes is going away! The lady I occasionally get facials from told me that squinting causes dark circles under the eye. Who knew? I just didn't want to get used to glasses and HAVE to have them. Ah...now, after it feels sooo good to wear them, I'm going to all the time. (Except in pictures ;-) I'm still vain enough NOT to wear them then --ha ha ha.

Seriously, thanks so much for the advice!

I gave up on seeing the written word without my glasses several years ago. I figured, if I had to wear glasses, they'll either be funky glasses, or I'll wear them on a funky chain.

The chain won out since I don't need glasses for driving or seeing at a distance. It's only having to read something written or printed close by that gives me trouble. So now I have a couple of decorative neck chains and wear glasses around my neck ALL the time! I've become my mother! ;o)

*snort* Meant to tell you what my Mama told a Dean at her college, once. She was the Transcript Clerk for my college, and the folks in the office had a party for her birthday. I think it was her 60th, but when one of the Deans came in and asked her which birthday, she said "39 and holding". He leaned over, gave her a peck on the cheek and said "You ain't holdin too damn good, are you?" They both had a good laugh about that since he hadn't seen the sunny side of 50 for many years, either!
