Karbala, 27 Dec. (AKI) - Police in the Shiite holy city of Karbala say they have uncovered a mass grave containing the remains of men, women and children. The gruesome find was made by workers digging a water pipeline. Local authorities say they believe the corpses are those of a hundred or more Shiites slaughtered just after the end of the first Gulf War, in reprisal for having staged an uprising against Saddam Hussein.
There are believed to be as many as 30,000 victims in the Shiite revolt. Since the overthrow of Saddam in April 2003, scores of mass graves have been found, mainly in the northern Kurdish areas or in the Shiite-inhjabited areas of southern Iraq.
I mis-read, 30,000 killed in uprising after GWl.
More coffee needed.
Your not holding your breath are you?
"30,000 found in mass grave"
Prairie, look again...as I read it, it says an estimated 30,000 victims of Saddam during the Shiite uprising in 1991, of which this might be a hundred or a few hundred buried at this particular site. Not that all 30,000 estimated victims have been found at this site. No matter, just more evidence against the Saddam regime, as if we needed any more.
Looked again already. This time with glasses on.
;^)
Let's see. Mass graves of people destroyed by Saddam's regime. But no weapons of mass destruction? Did they kill them with their bare hands?
Holy for Satan
If the left had their way, he could have just kept killing and filling up those mass graves.
In other news: Media covering the Saddam trial marveled at his nice blue suit and commented how great he looked. They sympathized with his treatment reporting his acusations(over and over) that he was mistreated by the Americans.
After they exhume the bodies, Sean Penn should be interred (and in-turd!) there.
Absolutely...no number would have been too many. No limit.
I might send Teddy a letter with a Mary Jo stamp!

Thanks for the ping!
Actually, it's Bush's fault that we found them.
They don't have the guts to say it outright, but the other Nancy Pelosi said the whole Iraq liberation was a "colossal mistake".
Oh good! Now we have another 30,000 potential indictments in case Saddam's lawyers manage to get him found not guilty in his current trial.

I haven't heard this before. Do you have quotes?

Oh... and we can all translate quite easily what John Kerry REALLY meant when he said "Wrong War, Wrong Place, Wrong time"...
