Hillary Clinton's Got the Ball, but Others Line Up for a Shot

Now that the issue of what's under the tree has been settled, the biggest question facing many Democrats for the next year reduces to three words: Will Hillary run?
The race for the next Democratic presidential nomination can't really take shape until Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York signals her intentions, and that probably won't come until 2007. But the expectation that she'll run is influencing the early maneuvering, as her potential rivals start to define how they might position themselves against her.
If Clinton jumps in she will be the front-runner, with big leads in the early polls, a bulging campaign treasury, enduring goodwill toward her husband among rank-and-file Democrats (an especially valuable asset in the African American community), long-standing ties with elected officials and interest groups, and extensive national experience. Beyond all that, candidate Clinton would probably argue that she was the only choice who could unify the famously fractious Democrats.
In all, Clinton's advantages in a nominating race look at least as strong as those George W. Bush enjoyed when he captured the GOP nod in 2000. But a Clinton bid would face two distinct, even contradictory, sources of resistance.
One would come from some centrist Democrats who think she's too liberal or at least perceived as too liberal by too many voters to win a general election. The other would come from some grass-roots liberals who think that in her effort to assuage those concerns, she has conceded too much ground to conservatives, especially in her support for the Iraq war.

After Slick Willie, Americans now know again what its like to have a real president. I hope Hillary does run, it means we will have another Republican President! Hillary is NOT Presidential material, and Americans ( including the majority of Dims) know it. Here is what every American knows about Hillary as president: Hillary is a raving Left Wing Nut at heart who will convert the USA into something that looks like Canada ( shiver) or worse. She "stood by her man" despite his filandering and rape over the years, thereby forever disparaging herself in the eyes of Americans. If she had kicked Slick in the cojones and left him, she might NOW have a chance to be president, but her obvious acceptance of Slick Willies BJ life style has forever doomed her as presidential material , and what are her ideas?....more that Americans don't want. High on Hillary's secret agenda would be: a) Socialist Health Care system, meaning a reduction in freedom of physician selection and a reduction for elective surgery and a general devolution of individual health care standards. b) Completely socialist education system where individual merit and student accomplishment will be sacrificed for the failed attempt to educate the minimally motivated "underprivileged." Result: lowering of educational standards in the USA. It takes a village you know. We see glimpses of this in Dem controlled States now and it is called Differentiated Instruction based on the Socialist ideas of Gaolor, a British, now Princeton Professor. ( This is anti no child left behind!) c) Reduction in military spending just when the USA needs to be the strongest military in the world. This will result in the increasing isolationism of the USA which will lead to WW III, either with Chia, North Korea or in the Middle East with Iran. d) The loading of our court systems with judges who will feel absolutely free to interpret newly created constitutional rights for homosexuals and other minority life stylists e) The movement of society generally away from the traditional American model of individual merit towards a socialist , " It Takes A Village" approach. f) The statutory banishment of the NRA as an answer to embedded 2nd amendment rights of the citizenry, so the people cannopt defend themselves against newly empowered minorities who resort to crime, religious persecution and is some cases, bizarre sex education in the school systems of the American majority g) The empowerment and radicalization of American Muslims who will link up with Islamofascists under the guise of educational and cultural exchanges. It takes a village you know. h) An increase in the permeability of our borders so that the "morally superior" Democrat Utopia will spread across the world ( ie open the doors and let violence into our nation) like France and England. i) the subrogation of American law and conventions to the United Nations, an organization operated by tyrants who abhor freedom for their own personal, aristoctratic, despotic regimes at home. UN law will become stare decisis in America. j)American endorsement of the international Criminal courts so that the American Military can be subject to international investigation arraignment and punishment for " War Crimes." k) The endorsement of the USA of the Kyoto Protocol thereby further hobbling business in the USA who are in direct competition with international businesses who have no such restrictions at home ( ie. China/Russia) l) The surrender of the Pacific to China, and betrayal of Taiwan, a loss of the Pacific as a US sphere of Influence, and the rsulting alienation of Korea and Japan as those nations join the Chinese Co-propsperity Sphere. m) The increase of personal and corporate taxes, except for those who are prominant liberals, where there will be several cash cow schemes for envirionmental preservation and alternative energy resources research. These taxes will fund several new welfare programs dedicated to the further emancipation of women from their biological perogative to perpetuate the human race, as a matter of lifestyle choice. n) Namcy Pelosi will become leader of the Senate or the Secretary of State. These are just a few of the items on Hillary Clinton's secret agenda, and if any one thinks that these are not her secret leftest agenda, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you! Hillary Clinton as president would be the end of the USA as we have known it , and will lead to WW III, a war we would likely lose. our grandchildren will be attending Mosques when Hillary will have become a memory of infidel defilement. Hillary Clinton is an IMPOSTER! Americans dont want any of this! Hillary is not Presidential material. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The (unstated) RFK analogy is a bit creepy--I think the LA Times made a Freudian slip in that headline. ;-)
Last I heard they were still counting bullet holes in that hotel kitchen. :-(

Back when the Clintons were first installed in the WH, MSM said Hill was the smartest woman in the world. And they said it with a straight face.

Nice try though, LAT.

Hillary is running in 2008. Just accept it now, and start planning on how to beat her.
There's an off chance they may throw the switch, and try to reanimate Al Gore's wooden, lifeless body for one more run on the White House, but I doubt it. Hillary's the way to bet.

No one can foretell the future but my guess is that Hillary Clinton will never even be nominated for the Democrat presidential race in 08. But she will broker the nomination because she controls the money.
Neither will the Republicans run Condi Rice. The country is just not ready for a woman president especially a Marxist like Clinton, and much much less, a black woman.
It's becoming clear to serious Democrats that the party is not going to survive if it continues its socialist agenda. It must reform and really turn to the right if it is to stay alive. Changing its "image" will not do the trick.
The days are gone when Democrats can afford to run a leftist for president.
My guess is that both major political parties will run male centerist candidates who will try to appeal to the average American. Winning blue areas will not do the job.
Long-range prediction for president: Republicans; Dick Cheney, George Allen, J. C. Watts or a dark horse no one has ever considered before. It will not be John McCain who could never win the nomiation..
For Democrats, Joe Leiberman or some mid-western governor. It will not be John Kerry or any other northeastern liberal.

There were some camping experiences, with my buddy from AZ, where that was our last "manly" act we did before retiring for the evening.
Of course we were in the wilderness.
