Great post. I wonder if they would dare teach something like this in public schools today or if the bleeding heart lierals would have a fit and drag the teacher to court for promoting violence against Euopeans.

What do you mean? Michael Moore has already embraced the Revolutionary War American patriots as the forerunners of the Jidahists and Saddamite "Minutemen."
2300 men and 18 cannon totally surprised the Trenton garrison during the traditional hangover following traditional Christmas celebrations.
Nice post. BUT, the title is written in the passive, just like the MSM would do.
How about something like this: "General George Washington saves the American Revolution by an audacious attack!" ? (Or some such)

BTW, neither James Flexner in his definitive biolgraphy of Washington, nor McCullough in his recent book "1776," believed the Hessians were hungover. They were shocked by the attack and by Rall's death during the opening stages of the battle.
Rall havd information from the MSM that an attack might occur, but the timing in a driving snow and by its ferocity was overwhelming. His pickets were awake and fired several vollies but were driven in quickly. Rall was rallying his troops as they quickly mustered, but was stopped short. All in all, we were, as Washington always acknowledged, aided greatly by "Providence."

Having just read 1776, an easy read but enlightening; I thank you for this post.
We remember our troops this day-
Oh God; continue to influence AMERICAN snipers whenever
they fight- BLIND the enemy- let their calculation of MOA be precise- and deadly, amen.
from "Saving Private Ryans" sniper Jackson:
"Be not that far from me, for trouble is near; haste Thee to help me."
"Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight."
"My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me."
"O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me."
Ping!
Maggie Thatcher wasn't a Torie, she was a classical liberal who just happened to be a member of the Conservative Party.
Revisionist history.
Yeah, I seen a movie on the History Channel a few years back and it was Alexander Hamilton who stormed the outpost. Not Monroe.
Covers both the first and second battles of Trenton and also of Princeton. Interesting, readable, and very well researched. Should be in your local library and worth finding it.
Also, an interesting extension of this is the adhoc guerrilla warfare waged the rest of the winter by the New Jersey malita. Drove the british out of most of New Jersey. Not much written about it but a fascinating tatical innovation at the time.
Jimmy Carter and some other liberals recently said that we should not have gone to war during the revolution.
Explains a lot of where they are coming from today.
I'm so proud to be an American!
Our national ancestors suffered greatly, and now we have freedom. Our ancestors arrived under many circumstances--some to escape a horrible life and some as slaves--but each of us should thank God that they got here. Without their hardships, we would not be here.
Thank you, God.
Yeah...Pvt. Jackson (Barry Pepper) sure was a classic example of an American sniper, scoped M1903 bolt-action .30-06(?) rifle 'n everything.
Sorry for the belated response but great post. I'll have to check out Washington's Crossing (mentioned on a later post).
That picture is really funny!
