A group of elderly Holocaust survivors came forward Friday with accounts of a death squad they formed after World War II to take revenge on their Nazi persecutors, recounting a brazen operation in which they poisoned hundreds of SS officers.
In a broadcast on television's Channel Two, the survivors - some of whom fought in the Warsaw Ghetto uprising - recalled hunting down SS officers in the dead of night. Disguised as British or American officers, they would drag the SS men out of their homes and execute them, they said.
In their largest operation, the group, code-named "The Avengers," received a large amount of arsenic from Paris and laced loaves of bread fed to hundreds of SS officers imprisoned in an American camp after the war. They said they were also planning a broad operation in Dachau and Nuremberg, but the Jewish leadership in what would soon become Israel forced them to abandon the plan.
"I didn't see myself as a murderer, not then and not today," group member Simcha Rotem told Channel Two.

In the case of the waffen SS I would have to disagree. Schutzstaffel soldiers were sociopaths, sadists and the violently insane as a prerequisite for recruitment. That statement is not a fondly held notion, it is a fact, look it up. The SS was created in part because the morale of the average person could not handle the mass killing of innocents. They wore the order of the deaths head to the last man, there were no good guys and no "potentially innocent" in their ranks.
There are some things that step beyond the boundary of any morality or justice, these things can only be conquered by those willing to exert equal power, sometimes evil. The saving grace for those who counter and eliminate these evils is their intent.
In fact, they were SS POWs. After Malmedy, being caught in an SS uniform by Allied Forces was an extreme liability

They I must ask you, why aren't you out taking care of murderers in our country? Wouldn't the victim's families be grateful to you?
I read somewhere that the British did some of that as well - not poison, but a bullet in the back of the head.
One of these fellows appeared in the PBS special
"Auschwitz: Inside The Nazi State".
He was a member of a "Jewish Brigade" (?) of the British Army and related
how they went on their covert missions of retribution in the days
just after WWII.
He also did intelligence work for Israel later on...and volunteered
to perform the execution of Eichmann.
He said the authorities declined his offer by saying something like
"that's fine, you've already done enough".
Don't you think there is difference between a street criminal and an agent of genocide, or would you be opposed to someone putting a bullet in the head of Bin Laden as well?

Come on. You are dreaming. "Make My Day" is only in the movies. If it wasn't we would be seeing examples of it in the media since they fall all over themselves to print such things.
You can spin inferences till the cows come home, but the fact is...you DON'T know what he's doing. And fact you've had to descend to a variation of the "chickenhawk" argument reflects on you, not him.
Beside watching it, what do you know about "the media?"
So you really wouldn't kill Bin Laden or Al-Zawahiri, or the guys that chopped off the head of Dan Pearl and their ilk on sight. OK, I admire your honesty and strength of conviction. It's Christmas, I think I'll let it go at that, except to say as a Jew we found out the hard way what happens when only one side plays by the rules.
