Thanks everyone! I don't plan on lurking much longer, and no, this wasn't scripted in the least. My parents don't know yet, and I plan on telling my mom, my uncle, THEN my dad. They may find out before I tell them. I'll keep you all up to date.

Let me tell you, I have the same trouble with my Dad - Lifelong Dem and Union Steward for the Santa Fe Railroad. The last time we cough, cough, attempted a political discussion, he immediately changed the subject instead of supporting his allegation. This type of arguing continued until things became so heated, he stormed out of my house and we didn't speak for 3 months. No kidding.
However, what I truly want to say is Merry Christmas, Justin. I hope the holiday is blessed for you and your family.

Hey, I came in late to this thread, but let me tell you, I have the same problem with my sister. She lives in Madison, WI and is a complete liberal. We just cannot talk politics.
I just laugh it off, and try to have a sense of humor about it. But it still bothers me that she is so brainwashed by her local liberal media, and doesn't care about the facts that are out there.
Of course, it's harder for you because you're still living under your parents' roof, but I am very amazed at how you're sticking up for your beliefs.
I wish I'd have had half the common sense at 16 that you do. It would have saved me a lot of trouble. :)
