WASHINGTON - In 1990, hardly a Spanish-speaking person could be found in California, Mo., population 4,106. That's not the case anymore. Today, Mexican immigrants are almost two of every 10 residents. They account for nearly 40 percent of the workers at the area's largest employers, three meat-processing plants.

Did anyone see John Stewart/Daily Show/Comedy Central last night? It appears illegal immigration is disliked as much by that audience as most conservatives. Stewarts point to the president was stop them from getting in the country first. The audience more than agreed.
This is so clearly not an issue or position that resonates only with Republicans. There are many working class Democrats, many of my family and friends included, who will not support amnesty and want strict enforcement.
The unfortunate problem, however, is that the leadership of both parties seem almost unwilling to get tough. I am somewhat hopeful that Bush is getting the message, though, and will act. He, along with leading Republicans in Congress, would be foolish not to do so.
Also, if you all have noticed, there are many influential figures on television and radio who feel the same way as we do. Just take a look at O'reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh, and many others.
You guys might want to take a look at this.
Ha! California, Missouri. How ironic.
Possibly the dummest thing I have ever read!
Start building the fence.
It should be made a felony for Criminals who overstay their visas and Invaders.
I believe we should give amnesty to these poor CRIMINALS or INVADERS.
This should be a 2 week amnesty to get the heck out of our Country.
The ones who ignore this amnesty should be buried in a tent city jail and fined $10,000 or buried elsewhere.
All aiders and abettors of these CRIMINALS or INVADERS should get 1 year in a tent city jail and a $10,000 fine for each CRIMINAL aided.
Those in government should be the first ones charged.

The colonization/invasion of America continues, even in the heartland.
The politicians who have allowed this invasion should all be tarred and feathered and run out of this country. (I'm being nice)
To G Norquist, babies, not bathists.
Each year, the U.S. absorbs about 500,000 illegal immigrant workers, many of them from Mexico (that would be 2,500,000 over five years)
I guess that leaves 5,500,000 "immigrants" that didn't get "absorbed".
Immigrants are not replacing American workers, industry officials say. Instead, they are filling a labor void.
Thank you, George Orwell.
Maybe they meant to say, Immigrants are not replacing American workers, we have illegal aliens to do that.
(This article mentions the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. I've heard of the Pew Research Center and the Pew Hispanic Research Center, but this is the first time I have come across this particular Pew center.)
Printer friendly version of the propaganda piece.
And now they have the same problems as California.
And Texas, Arizona, Oregon, Nevada, Virgina and the rest.
Ironic is right.
Of course, this is what happens with unchecked immigration, lack of border security, and a government that gives employers the pass to hire cheap illegal labor.
Protect our borders and coastlines from all foreign invaders!
Support our Minutemen Patriots!
Be Ever Vigilant ~ Bump!
You don't get it.
Kerry wanted to make America part of Europe. Bush wants to make America part of Latin America. He flatly does not want border enforcement at all. He never did when he was Governor of Texas and he doesn't in the White House.
This issue falls along class lines. People who live off of corporate profits and returns on investment benefit from cheap illegal labor. People who live off of paychecks and actually pay taxes are left picking up the tab in reduced income, shattered public services and quality of life. THAT is why the Senate is unwilling to get tough and Congress had to be forced to.
Hey, ping Dane. Ping Dane! ;)
