Hillary Clinton is a shoo-in for re-election. Let's face it, the NY GOP is dead as a doornail.

Hillary Clinton is a shoo-in for re-election.FWIW, I don't think so. Call me Pollyanna, but I think she'll have fight on her hands for re-election :)

New York is not going to elect a conservative to statewide office any time soon. Its a beautiful wet dream though. sigh>

No love lost for Pirro if she chooses to drop out of the Senate race, but it seems when the GOP tries to put up a candidate against Hillary, they come off looking like the Party that couldn't shoot straight...

All that's left of the NY GOP are RINOs. There's very little difference between them and the Democrats except they're a tad tougher on crime. But between you and me, no one is gonna vote for a pretend liberal when you can have a real one. New York is going to go Blue all the way in 2006 and you can take that to the bank.

LOL! Pataki did a great job demolishing what's left of the GOP in 12 years as Governor. And the RINOs will probably lose control of the State Senate so that's not a great loss - just New Yorkers finally voting straight party ticket preference across the board.

The party leadership won't back him. The RINOs will never accept a conservative on their farm team. They'd rather have the Democrats run the show rather than have conservatives bring an end to the Rockefeller Establishment in the Empire State.

It's the same story as New Jersey. I don't know if it the RINOs, or changing demographics, or whatever... but the NJ Democratic party could put a dead body on the ticket and the dutiful electorate would vote their straight Democratic ticket, as instructed.
New York is probably a hopeless cause as it is more liberal than New Jersey, if anything. Frankly, Pataki may have done well just to hold on as long as he has.

I get a whiff of support for Rudi in your post. Conservatives will never support a liberal Republican for POTUS and that means Rudi will never win the GOP nomination for Prez.

Wow!
Rudy should run against Hillary, or for governor. Pirro would be good as attorney general.
Rudy will not win the Presidential nomination.
