Amputee admits lies, still cites attack (UPDATE)
******************Article************
CANTON - A 52-year-old amputee says three young men tried to mug him as he waited for the bus Monday night, pushing him out of his wheelchair into a fire hydrant, kicking him and then running off with his wheelchair as he lay stunned on the ground.
A Stark Area Regional Transit Authority bus driver who came upon Virgil L. Stewart brought him to the Cornerstone bus terminal, where Stewart collapsed and began choking and shaking violently, a SARTA incident report said. He was taken to Mercy Medical Center, where he was treated and later released.
I think its pretty sick, said Stewart, who says he lost his lower right leg due to an infection from a Vietnam War injury and the use of his left arm due to a stroke. I wish I had two good legs, and Id fight them. They wouldnt have done that to me.
Then his bravado changed to vulnerability.
I was scared because ... I cant take care of myself.
Stewart said that around 7:30 p.m. Monday, he had left his brothers house and was waiting for a SARTA bus to pick him up at 10th Street NE and Marion Motley Avenue. Three men came up behind him, he said.
They came up to me and asked for a cigarette, and I said I didnt have one, Stewart recounted. They said, Give us your money. What money? I dont have any money. ... Im sitting here waiting for a bus.
Stewart said one of the men started frisking him, while another threw him out of the wheelchair. He landed on a fire hydrant, hitting his head and chest against it, he said.
Then the men started kicking him, he said, before fleeing with his only wheelchair as the SARTA bus approached. Stewart said he managed to crawl to a telephone pole and get himself up to get on the bus.
Stewart said after collapsing at the station, he awakened at Mercy as staff put IV tubes into him. He said the doctor told him he was fortunate he hadnt cracked his skull.
Stewart, a widower who lives alone, says his brother is lending him one of his wheelchairs, but hell need it back to give to his mother-in-law in a week. Stewart, whos recently worked as a Salvation Army bell ringer, said hell have to manage with a walker with his prosthetic leg because he cant afford a new wheelchair.
Stewart described his assailants as three black men in their 20s. One, 5 feet 9 inches tall, was thin and wore a Raiders jacket, black pants, sunglasses and a scarf covering part of his face, the police report said. A second was 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a stocky build, a scar on his left cheek, a black jacket, black warmup pants and red-and-white tennis shoes. The police report did not have a description of the third man.
A Canton police supervisor said Tuesday night that he did not have any information beyond the report. Police detectives could not be reached for comment.
I just hope I dont run into them again, said Stewart, who had cuts and marks on his head and body. Im going to have something for them if they try it again. ... Ill break their neck.

These three, if they are found somewhere away from the authorities should breath no longer.
DISHEARTENING STORY Virgil Stewart, 52,
of Canton said three men threw him out of
his wheelchair Monday night as he waited
for a bus, then stole the wheelchair.
It is likely, in Canton that these three will never see the authorities.
If they want them found they need more details and cut the PC crap.
If the authorities took these three thugs out to some field in the middle of the night somewhere, I would just turn my head and walk way.
Mr Stewart needs a new wheelchair with a holster by his good hand for a 1911 cocked and locked by his side.
May these creeps get as they gave.
what filth these animals are.

Right on................ then feed them to some very hungry animals.
Why wait for the authorities????
In one neighborhood I lived in, I and my neighbors were instrumental in getting a family out of a Section 8 rental. They were running a crack house.
I was told by the community association president that word on the street was that I had better watch my step. I told her to put the word out on the street that I shoot to disable. I would also sit on my front porch and clean my weapons. Never heard anything else about it.
Keep in mind, these types of 'men' go for easy targets. They prefer elderly, women and disabled and did it in groups.
There was another recent story that a group of scum were trying to car jack a Vet in his van. They were even beating him with his own cane. He pulled out a firearm and killed the one guy. A little street justice works too.
Stealing wheelchairs should be punished the same way as horse theives.
With a prompt hanging by sundown.
REAL MEN don't pick on little old ladies and the handicapped! This is what you get when you let gangs raise your kids.
If they are found, a judge should send them to Parris Island for 13 weeks, followed by a trip to Iraq for four years.
"What a wimp."
What a ninny.
My brother was attacked and overpowered by four youth with cue sticks and cue balls on the street in front of his house, while hanging Christmas lights. He wouldn't go to the hospital until 'forced'. It is more an attack on the psyche than an attack on the body.
I suppose all those injured by IEDs just needed a concealed handgun as well.
If this story checks out, I'll bet Freepers could collect enough to buy him a Hoveround before Christmas day.
