Celebs Toast Elton John at Bachelor Party

LONDON - Celebrities mobbed a West End nightclub for a glitzy bachelor party to toast the upcoming civil union between Elton John and David Furnish.

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Elizabeth Hurley, Bryan Adams, Gary Barlow and Kid Rock were among those who streamed into the gala event Monday night in London's Soho neighborhood. John and Furnish slipped into the Too2Much venue just minutes before the show started.

Shirtless waiters wearing black ties and riding boots served guests flutes of champagne. The nightclub, once a strip club known as Raymond's Revue Bar, features an auditorium with red leather and banquette seating, a bar decorated with Swarovski crystals, chairs dipped in rubber and sculptured glass walls.

Deliveries of sushi and presents arrived at the main entrance as the celebrities partied on. Though the couple had asked revelers to give donations to AIDS charities in lieu of gifts, Cilla Black playfully promised to ignore the instructions.

"I'm going to get them the tackiest toaster I can find," the singer told reporters.

The star-studded bash came ahead of a private ceremony to seal the couple's civil partnership.

Hundreds of same-sex couples plan to form civil partnerships in England and Wales on Wednesday, the first day that such ceremonies become possible under new legislation offering gays many of the legal protections available to married heterosexuals.

There was once a day when Ozzy would have spit in the face of someone like Elton John.

Ozzy...where have you gone??

Sure it was a Batchelor Party and not a Hen's Night?

I wish I could've attended.

I would have gave the happy couple a 12 pack of condoms and a case of Depends while shouting "Keep Abortion Legal!!"

n. Though the couple had asked revelers to give donations to AIDS charities in lieu of gifts,

Guess they are trying to thwart off the inevitable?

Yet more proof that civil union equals marriage. If there is any benefit left unbestowed, it will easily be settled in a lawsuit. Only an idiot thinks there is a difference.

How do they know if it's a bachelor party or bridal shower?

I'm sure he wanted to be there in person, but ...
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton made his presence felt at a Monday "hen’s night” (British slang for "bridal shower") bash in London to honor Elton John.
John will be "married” Tuesday in a civil union ceremony to longtime partner David Furnish.
Clinton could not attend, but did provide a videotaped message for the homosexual couple. According to sources, the message congratulated John for "tying the knot” courtesy of Britain’s new civil-union law. "If there were more people in the world like Elton, then the world would be a better place," Clinton reportedly said on the tape.

Sure it was a Batchelor Party and not a Hen's Night?

Boston's Howie Carr went the 'hen' route on his show tonight...said Elizabeth Hurley was wearing skin-tight white pants, but nobody in attendance noticed.

Dunno who Howie Carr is, but if Elizabeth Hurley still wants to model the white strides, I'm interested...

It's not a marriage - they're not married - there is no bride - there is no groom.

Putting lipstick on Godzilla doesn't make it beautiful - it just allows the monkey to pretend.

Marriage is man and woman....period.

Howie Carr is a talk show host...a conservative voice in a den of Boston liberals.
