If Trent Lott decides to run for re-election (again) in 2006, is there anyone else out there who would like to see him replaced with another Republican?

I would....but not necessiarly by a Republican. Lincoln Chafee, Olympia Snowe, John McCain et al are all RINOs...liberals and socalists.
I want him replaced with a hard core conservative.....

Well if that person wants funding from the GOP they had better be to the left of Lott because real conservatives are shunned by this WH.

Yes, and Lindsey Graham in SC to. What a disgrace.

Most of us dislike Lott, but we are not in a position to know if an improvement is possible without risking the seat or making things worse. Maybe someone from Missouri can inform us.

That's not going to happen.
But it's very possible that Trent Lott will just go back home and stay there. How can conservatives help that happen? Easy: contact other GOP Senators in their home states and make it clear that they are not to support restoring Lott to any position of leadership. The only thing keeping Lott from announcing his retirement already is the hope that he'll be Majority Leader again. Preventing that is more important than preventing Harriet Miers from becoming a Supreme Court justice. It's very doable.
As for his views, Trent Lott is not a RINO. He's just hopelessly incompetent.

Yeah, that's what I think. Unfortunately, there are a lot of GOPers in the same category.
I'd say that the only consolation is that the Dems are worse, but I'm not sure that's really a consolation. Our government is run by idiots.
To: JBroadwa
1) Is that person to the right of Lott?
2) Does s/he have a reasonable chance of winning?
3) How much would we suffer if Lott and the candidate loses?
IOW - How bad is Lott's challenger?

I hate to disappoint you but, It ain't gonna happen.
Mississippi Senators do not "retire". I am 63 years old and in my lifetime Mississippi has had five (5) Senators. They don't retire and they don't get defeated. Getting elected in Mississippi is as close to lifetime tenure as you can get.
To: Long Distance Rider
True, but even folks in Mississippi can spot a fake, and that's what Trent is, from his hairpiece to his ankles, he's the Jay Rockefeller of the Republican party. He's as phony as a three dollar bill!
