Liberals only like free speech when they agree with it. The ACLU will defend freaks like Ward Churchill any day of the week, but I bet they don't even say word one about this ruling, which clearly violates the right of free speech!

My reading of this commission's criticism is that no business should encourage any specific language to be spoken in their establishments.

"cerveza" doesn't sound much like "beer".

I noticed that, too. No white guys on there. I smell discrimination afoot.

Elizabeth Brown, executive director of Cincinnati-based HOME, said the sign speaks for itself. Some HOME representatives stopped by about noon but were told the inn didn't serve lunch. She didn't think it was necessary to gather additional evidence. But Commissioner Jeanine Donaldson of Lorain said, "I don't see a reason to send testers in. ... Service is being denied."
Nanny stater.

Any American who has ever lived abroad, knows that beer sounds pretty much like beer, whatever language you order it in. Sorry but beer does not always sound like beer unless you are in western europe maybe.
Spanish : cerveza
Russian : piva

I emailed the two people who wrote the article. Got a very nice fast reply from one, jcraig.
She said: "Good question. That would make a nice future story. I'll check it out."

Corona remains the only beverage that I've been served in a bar that I tasted and sent back.

Any American who has ever lived abroad, knows that beer sounds pretty much like beer, whatever language you order it in. Exactly...Years ago I worked on the weekends as a bartender...Migrant workers were plentiful in my neck of the woods...I have yet to see a thirsty migrant who didn't know and couldn't say Schlitz, or Miller Light...That's because Schlitz sounds the same whether it's in Spanish or Kenyan (albeit it with a little accent thrown in)...

So the bar down the street should have a sign reading "Se habla CERVEZA."

Ohio law says it is unlawful for any proprietor of a place of public accommodation This would make "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service" illegal as well. I think I would tell these folks: "This is not a place of public accomodation. Patrons are server at my pleasure, not theirs."

Unbelievable.
The Ohio courts can order communst-style indoctrination of
citizens of whom they disapprove.
Here in America.
Is Ohio still in the United States?
Not politically they ain't. Sad day.

Now, now, you can't get hemmed in by the actual language of the statute - it's a living document that means what you want it to, doncha know?
