Michael Crook: Yes I did it [Joshua Sparling] (Come here look at this)
http://michellemalkin.com/archives/2005_12.htm ^ | michael Crook

Posted on 12/17/2005 2:28:57 PM PST by bad company

For those that have e-mailed or IM'd me regarding the card sent to Joshua Sparling, yes I did it. I do not regret a minute of it.

I even included a jab at my detractors, by signing it "Miguel".

Oh, and for the veteran scum at various, randomly chosen VFW halls across the country-- including Fountain Hills, AZ; Dayton, OH; Syracuse, NY; Mays Landing, NJ; Houston TX, and more.... you're welcome for your "special" cards and faxes.

And, yes, I was the "heartless SOB" that sent four cards to the Veterans Hospital on Irving Avenue in Syracuse.

No, I don't regret it, and yes I'll do it again in a heartbeat.

I tried to counter the scum's damage. When the names of soldiers needing words of encouragement were published on this thread (including Joshua Sparling), I sent Christmas cards to them. Tucked inside each envelope was an additional note of thanks written by my 5 year old niece. It simply said "Thank you. Love, --name redacted--." She had to copy the notes because her spelling isn't that great yet at such a young age, but she knew who was getting them and why she was doing it, and she dutifully set down and slowly wrote them one by one until she got the job done.

Thank you so much. Let me assure you that you and many others did counter this rancid maggot's hate.

I plan to post a full after-action report when I get the photos downloaded, but I visited last night with Cpl Todd Bishop - one of the names on that list with Joshua Sparling. I have a photo of Todd in his wheelchair holding a stack of mail (one of about three). He and his roommate said it was only about three days' worth.

My Red Cross connection said Joshua had about two bags of mail, FWIW.

"Whether it be the Army, Marines, Navy, the Air Force, or the Coast Guard, our country wouldn't be where it is today without the valuable service of the countless men and women who have served." - Silent Mike, a/k/a Michael Crook

"I felt it a privilege to salute while the flag was being retired at dusk. I can feel the mutual pride and respect when I salute an officer or observe a salute being rendered." - Silent Mike a/k/a Michael Crook

But wait... there's more:

"At the same time, I feel sadness, because I know I'm not on the training field finishing my basic training as I should be. I feel jealousy fill up within me every time I pass a serviceperson in the mall or elsewhere. In a few cases, I've stopped and spoken briefly with them and reminded them how privileged they are to be serving out country." - Silent Mike, a/k/a Michael Crook

"Freedom isn't free" may be a cliche, but it is very true. Many people, men and women, have died to ensure that we can listen to the music that we do, say whatever we want, and have all the various freedoms that we exercise practically every day and take for granted. - Silent Mike a/k/a Michael Crook

"Perhaps in November when we ovserve [sic] Veterans Day, and when next May brings Memorial Day, we can think beyond the day off of owek [sic] and school and remember not only the people who have died in service to our country, but also the countless others who voluntarily leave behind their loved ones to serve in the military." - Silent Mike, a/k/a Michael Crook

I guess I have to respond to some of the e-mail messages I've been getting regarding my interview on Hannity and Colmes yesterday.

I realize, on review of the tape, that it looks like I'm not standing my ground, but here's what happened from my point of view...

This was my first interview on that side of the camera. I've worked in the TV industry, so I'm perfectly at home behind the scenes. I had a few minutes to prepare my thoughts, with the expectation that Hannity and Colmes would at least give me somewhat of a fair hearing, that is..say my piece. Rather than do that, they chose to just barrage me with insults and quite honestly, I was caught off guard. The nervousness of being on Fox News Channel, combined with expecting a fair forum and getting beat up on right out of the gate caused my mind to just go blank.

I did not mean in any way to imply that they were correct in saying the troops are the reason I have freedom of speech, because they don't. My taxes give me that right; screw the troops.

In any event, I have been treated a lot nicer by radio show hosts, and in retrospect, I should have been more agressive, but the bottom line is this: they didn't bring me on to be fair, they brought me on to make me look like a jerk, and just pelt me with insults. So be it. I'm not upset about it, I just realize that this is what makes Hannity and Colmes feel more powerful. Twisting free speech to suit themselves, and not give others (not just me..they've done this to many others) a chance to respond to their rudeness.

But they were correct in one thing: I am heartless and cruel and damn proud of it.

Out.

According to forsakethetroops. info

On Monday evening, the webmaster of Forsake The Troops was brutally assaulted by two men, thought to be members of the military, in response to their opinions about this website. Mr. Crook had been the target of numerous death threats and trespassers at his residence. All of these threats were saved and have been turned over to the authorities.
UPDATE:

At 6:19pm Eastern time, Michael Crook died of his injuries, after being rushed by ambulance to the leading hospital in the area for head trauma. The two men who allegedly assaulted him are currently in the custody of police. Mr. Crook died with his wife and infant daughter present.

It is therefore the decision of his family, and associates that Forsake The Troops goes offline, to prevent further incidents of violence and threats against his family. Therefore, this domain will permanantly go offline at around 5pm Eastern time, on Tuesday, May 17th, 2005.

Comments, and well-wishes may be addressed to noc@smishosting.com. Media inquiries (no interviews with family at this time), or sincere inquiries from well-meaning people may be directed to (315) xxx-xxxx.

Leave a voice mail message and your call will be returned by our media representative. The family requests privacy at this time.

Again a false post. As part of the media, this claim was researched with local and not so local law enforcement agencies. No assaults against Michael Crook of Liverpool NY were reported. No death certificates for Michael Crook filed. And no arrests in the assault and MURDER (claimed here) of Michael Crook have been made. Nice try Mr Crook. Your failed attempt at Urban Legend, again a failure.

Well as you can tell by my username, I am in fact the webmaster and founder of Forsake The Troops.

I find it amazing how everyone cries and whines about freedom of speech, and then when someone comes along with a view they don't agree with, they cry out "post your name and address for all to see", "call his hosting company" and you generally want to take away the speech you don't agree with. Of course, that's typical of your ilk.

This website isn't going anywhere. It is highly unlikely that my host will pull the website, because it does not violate any laws. If angering and disgusting people is a violation of law, then 94% of the websites out there must be shut down, including this one. Fair's fair.

I also find it funny that people think this website is being done for attention, or traffic, or whatever. It is not. People suggest fighting back by not going, and thereby eliminating traffic. First off, that hasn't happened since the website's gone online. We've actually had to upgrade our server to meet the traffic demands. Secondly, if that happens, so be it. The people that comprise our organization have plenty of disposable income, and paying for a server that costs less than $150 a month is a drop in the bucket for us. Visit, don't visit....it's up to you. The site's staying up whether we get 1 hit a day or 100,000 a day. Just so you know, we got 119,371 hits yesterday alone.

The site exists for the very reason the Internet exists...to put our views out there, and give people a chance to express their opinions, through the guestbook, forums, or e-mailing their oh so intelligent comments.

You can call Forsake The troops "filth" or whatever you like, but the fact remains, the site isn't going anywhere. Even if our host were to shut it down, the site will merely move to another hosting provider outside of the country. The worst that would happen, people, is that the site would go down for 48 hours, although we have contigency plans in place to make sure our message stays up. The underlying point is, you can't take a website off the Internet just because you don't disagree with it.

I laugh at the notion that people with my views be forced to leave the country. Isn't freedom of speech and expression one of the foundations on which this country was founded? Besides, I pay taxes, as does every one of our nineteen members....we have a right to be here, and speak our mind, regardless of what anyone thinks.

I find it funny that people say the website pisses them off, makes them cry, or whatever....yet they still come back every day. Ironic, isn't it?
Maybe you agree with our views and that pisses you off.

Food for thought.

If he doesn't get it, he will escalate until he does something drastic.

He HAS done something drastic.

Exposure is what he wants, I say we give it to him. He is far more useful to our side if we can put a name and face on the screen.

I hope he lives a long, safe life. He can help turn close elections our way.

It's going to be painful for them when there are no Democrats on the ballot anymore. Here's to a long life for Michael Crook and all those like him.

This PO(F)S is connected to the stormfront. Why am I not shocked?

The Left is the gift that keeps on giving. We just don't really want what they have to give, other than showing themselves for who the truly are.

I'm looking forward to seeing the likes of O'Reilly/Hannity/Gibson et. al. all over this. I would especially relish seeing this puke on, *after* the litany of everything he has said and done has been aired for all to see. This guy is the anti-war Left's worst nightmare--someone without the tact or intelligence to keep his mouth shut.
