A Pleasant Hill man convicted of funneling foreign contributions to the Democratic Party was sentenced to two years in prison Friday on separate charges of structuring monetary transactions to avoid detection.
Yogesh Gandhi, 56 -- who says he is a descendant of the late Indian leader Mohandas Gandhi -- was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Martin Jenkins on four counts of structuring transactions.

Of course...
Judge Jenkins.. a 1997 Clinton appointee.
If this guy was a Klinton operative, he would've walked. As it is, he'll probably get a nice cut if he's a good boy and says that he just got a bit overzealous raising funds for the most wonderful political party in the world. A few rants about "trying to save the world from that psycho GW Bush" wouldn't hurt, either.
I can't help but think there were hundreds of such cases that could have been prosecuted during the Clinton years.
Love this detailed coverage from the Chronicle, lol. This guy was part of the Clinton/Trie/Huang/Lippo/et al debacle and was already jailed and fined... only to go back to jail now for another violation. I shed no tears. lol.

YOGESH GANDHI PLEADS GUILTY TO ELECTION LAW, MAIL FRAUD AND TAX VIOLATIONS
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Justice Department's Campaign Financing Task Force and the U.S. Attorney's Office in San Francisco announced that Yogesh K. Gandhi pleaded guilty today in U.S. District Court in San Francisco to mail fraud, tax evasion and a violation of the Federal Election Campaign Act by aiding and abetting the making of a political campaign contribution by a foreign national. Gandhi is one of 18 people charged by the Campaign Financing Task Force, which was established by Attorney General Janet Reno to investigate allegations of campaign financing abuses in the 1996 election cycle.
Gandhi, 50 years old of Walnut Creek, California, was charged on August 5, 1998, and March 8, 1999, with mail fraud charges, tax evasion and failure to file income tax returns. The campaign financing violation was filed today just before Gandhi pleaded guilty to the charge.
In pleading guilty to the campaign financing violation, Gandhi admitted that in May 1996, he wrote a $325,000 check to the Democratic National Committee and gave the check to a representative of the DNC as a political campaign contribution. Gandhi, then a lawful permanent resident of the United States, would have been within the law if he had made such a contribution with his own funds. However, the donation was unlawful because it was made by Gandhi on behalf of a foreign national. The funds used to cover the check were wired to his account by a Japanese national.
In pleading guilty to tax evasion, Gandhi admitted to knowingly failing to file an income tax return for the 1996 calendar year and attempting to evade the payment of the federal income taxes due in that year.

Flashback!
According to the Bureau of Prisons website, this guy gets out of Prison in January 08.
He can take over the money laundering for Hsu!
I came across a “Parvi Gandhi” as the long time CFO to Ta-Lin Hsu (who I still haven’t connected to Norman).

This is by far the most hilarious relic of the Clinton admin. Clinton and his WH
bozos actually let fraudster Yogesh Ghandi into the White House to present
Clinton with a fake Peace award and this idiotic bust. Doesn't Clinton
look "pleased?" ROTFLMSO.
Is YOGESH GANDHI related to Ramchandra Gandhi?

Ramchandra Gandhi found dead in IIC
I guess reading the article would have helped!
From article:
>>>Yogesh Gandhi, 56 — who says he is a descendant of the late Indian leader Mohandas Gandhi<<<
From related thread:

Ramchandra Gandhi found dead in IIC
>>>Dr Ramchandra Gandhi, a grandson of Mahatma Gandhi<<<
Tidbit, Ramchandra Gandhi used to be a professor at Princeton University New Jersey.
The Indian people called Gandhiji 'Mahatma', meaning Great Soul.
More:
Would be very easy to adopt the name Ghandi for fraudulent purposes.
Could also be named Ghandi and have no relation to the world figure.
I believe Yogesh was outed as a complete fraud after the Clinton campaign debacle; Yogesh was not related to Mahatma Ghandi.
I don’t know about fraud; but the article is reporting him as being related:
>>>Yogesh Gandhi, 56 who says he is a descendant of the late Indian leader Mohandas Gandhi<<<
::shrugs::
Doug if you don’t have this great picture and background, now you do.
Great Job Liz!
That’s great. I’m sure Clinton would have been happier with a different kind of bust.
Yogesh Kothari was related to Gandhi, but only adopted the name after the fact. The SF Weekly article is worhtwhile. Also, Wikipedia has some good links on their page dealing with the bogus Gandhi Memorial International Foundation, including a link to the portion of the Senate investigation that dealt with Yogesh.

Amazing tale of Walnut Creek man who gave Clinton $325,000; immunity possible for congressional testimony
By Matt Smith
Published: April 8, 1998
As he awaits trial on federal mail fraud charges at his Walnut Creek home, Yogesh Kothari Gandhi faces what may become the most important confidence game of his long and artful career.
(snip)
About the time Yogesh Gandhi came to the United States in the early 1980s, his friends recall him explaining, he experienced an epiphany: Yogesh Kothari would carry on the legacy of his Great-Great-Granduncle Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. That the Gandhi name had disappeared from his lineage generations earlier — his ex-wife says Yogesh’s great-great-grandfather was Mahatma Gandhi’s brother — proved little hindrance to his newfound mission. He simply changed his name from Yogesh Kothari to Yogesh Gandhi.
“He decided he had a vision and decided to see if he could do something for humanity,” is how Theresa Marie Gandhi recalls her ex-husband’s justification for the switch.
For Theresa Marie, an adrift young idealist, an introduction to Gandhi in Los Angeles in 1983 was the fulfillment of her “destiny to find a way to bring peace to the world.” Together she and Yogesh planned a U.S. reincarnation of Mahatma Gandhi’s campaign of nonviolent activism.
They planned a cross-country march in 1984 patterned after Mahatma Gandhi’s legendary salt march, gathering a group of American dreamers to hike from Los Angeles to New York. They went from town to town, delivering the newly christened Yogesh Gandhi’s message of pacifism, peace, and love. The fervent loyalty Gandhi earned from members of that march was a paean to the well-dressed Indian’s uncanny power of persuasion.
“Thats great. Im sure Clinton would have been happier with a different kind of bust.”

Thanks for the ping and info.
Nothing new with the Clintoons, they have been bundling and laundering money for decades.
