Senator McCain Is Now Officially a Liberal Democrat
The Post Chronicleâ„¢ ^ | Dec 17, 2005 | by Sher Zieve

In the United States, we already have laws prohibiting torture. But, that wasn't enough for Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). McCain apparently "feels" (one of those liberal things) that torture is 'anything that makes terrorists uncomfortable'. Holy Smokes, Senator! Terrorists are supposed to be uncomfortable. Not only does McCain not want those who blow up people, buildings and behead those they haven't already killed to be treated with a gentler and more soothing attitude, he has also managed to push this anti-American enemy bill through--with terrorists now being extended rights under the US Constitution!

Personal Message to Senator McCain: It really is time, Sir, for you to run under the flag of your true belief system--the Democrat Party. Senator, we already know you that don't like conservatives and will attempt to run for President under some liberal platform. Certainly, you say you support the troops. But, your new "Al-Qaeda Rights Package" contradicts your words. I guess Hillary already has the Dem nomination pretty well sewn up--despite the insincere protestations from the Left. So, you won't be able to run as Prez for the Dems. I'm also guessing that joining Hillary as her running mate--for VP--is completely out of the question. But, with your ongoing liberal antics, do you really believe you'll win the Republican nomination? If so, you've been out of touch with the voters for way too long. To the mainstream liberal press, you're the Republican darling. But, it's the majority of Republicans--not Democrats--who will nominate a Republican presidential candidate. And like it or not, Senator, a great many Republicans still support a conservative ideology. Do you still remember what that entails?

If not, please allow me to assist in refreshing a few lost memories. To name but a few, Conservatives believe in less government, meritocracy and protecting American citizens from their enemies. The American people do not believe that extending more rights to barbarians and murderers will have any positive effect on either our country or to aid in their protection. In actuality, the Islamo-fascist terrorists see this move on your part and the parts of your liberal brethren as an act of appeasement and weakness. Surely, you know that. Or is it that you truly believe that there is a large enough liberal contingent in the Republican Party to nominate you for POTUS in 2008? This would be the contingent that includes liberal Senators Craig, Sununu, Murkowski, Hagel and Specter. Note: This is another gang of Democrat groupies that really should consider a switch in their Party affiliation.

Senator, both you and your state would be better-served if you flew the colors of the Democrat Party. Besides, you've been moving in that direction for years. You would be more comfortable there. Then, your constituency would actually know where you stand! And at least the Democrat Flag and Banner still contains one color that appears in the US Flag. Or is white considered a non-color?

Tell McCain the infiltration of free Republic failed.

Conservatives on this board are not buying that spin. Try a more gullible board.

mccain is a damn Opportunists that has placed our rights and our safety in jeopardy and I'll send him to hell first before I'd ever send him to the W.H.

I disagree, McCain is a McCainite. He has no direction and no belief he takes contrary stands to get in the media. He is a WEASEL. A person who can't be trusted by any side.

Conservatives on this board are not buying that spin.

Conservatives should not be bashing people who more often than not, are on our side.

We should be concentrating on bashing the liberals.

You can say all you want about McCain but the Al Qaeda "freedom fighters" and homicide bombers love him. He has guaranteed them that they will never suffer "discomfort" again at the hands of the U.S. military or the CIA.

Problem with McCain are the issues he takes the Democrat's side on. He drinks a lot of kool aid. And good conservatives know too much kool aid is bad.
I totally disagree with your statement. If anything, McCain is a conservative Democrat and that is still way too far left.

Hmmmmm McCain Lieberman 2008???

Moderate Republicans are just "Me Too Democrats" in disguise. Senator McCain lapses too much lately for me by going along with and appeasing moderates so he falls in this basket. All the while proclaiming that he is a Teddy Roosevelt Republican" - pffft (I think I spelled that right). He is not there nor is he a Barry Goldwater Republican (whose seat he was elected to) or a Ronald Reagan Republican. He is for all to see at this time a "Me Too Democrat".

I don't see any conservative traits in him like limited central power, reducing the federal bureaucracy, a balanced budget and states rights. Family, religion, private property and law & order or even the rights of the private person. He has now added defeatism to his list of accomplishments - like others on the Hill. Defeatism is what lost every war since WW II. Truman never meant to win in Korea, he had a 'no win' policy and this very same policy spilled over into Viet Nam - it was lost by the President and by the Congress. The "Me Too Democrats" of the Republican Party. Iraq will be the same unless we "wise-up".

The military did not lose any war in America's history - Congress and politicians did lose Korea and Viet Nam. History is repeating itself. The welfare state and government planning lives rose as a result this defeatism and was the welfare state was determined by internationalists and the self-anointed few - the "Me Too Democrats" and the Democrats of the age. Is history is repeating itself?

The tools of Law Enforcement are ineffective against global terrorists and the war on terrorism can not be won by treating terrorists as criminals. Eight years of pure failure by the Clinton Administration in doing just this should have shown the world that it will not work. Is history repeating itself?

The McCain Amendment on torture is another act, like not renewing the provisions of the Patriot Act, that will hamper if not hinder all efforts to bring terrorist to their ultimate justice. A few bad apples will always exist but we should not punish the majority, who are not this way, for the the actions of those few in this war.

An interesting similar article to read is 'Unilateral Disarmament by James Taranto' from the Opinion Journal of the Wall Street Journal

We now have a President who does not tie the hands of American soldiers, but unfortunately our Congress will make every effort to do so. I believe we must preserve and extend freedom, not only our own for ourselves but also for others because in doing so we preserve ours. I hope history will not repeat itself now.

"McCain cares about McCain and that is all."

The most dangerous place in the world is to be between McCain and a TV camera.

I agree with you here, and anyone who wants to disagree with McCain on the issues is fine. I don't care for the personal attacks on his character. On my list of politicians I would like to see retire, McCain is pretty far down the list if you include the democrats. If you want to only focus on republicans to can, he is pretty high up, but why we should focus on getting rid of republicans makes no sense to me.

I'm not sure why we are surprised by this. McCain is the only RINO in Congress who could get CFR through and squash our 1st Amendment right of Free Speech. He's also the only RINO in Congress who can get a bill through that guarantees that Americans will die to prevent mass murderers and terrorists from being made "uncomfortable".

One day, he will rue the day that he did these things.

No, we don't want McCain switching parties, we need the Republican majority in the Senate. As lame as that bunch of spineless cowards are, it is better (just barely) than a RAT majority.

McCain is nothing more than a populist media whore. He will do or say anything to get his face on TV, and the likes of Katie Couric fawning over him.

No, McCain shouldn't switch, but his RINO ass must be tossed and replaced with a real conservative.
