Since there clearly haven't been enough vanities around here today, I figured I weigh in with one:

What are your three favorite Christmas Movies of all  time?

Me, I'm going with:

3.  A Christmas Carol (staring Patrick Stewart, 1999)

2.  A Very Brady Christmas (yes I'm serious)

1.  It's A Wonderful Life (one of the finest films of all time)

I've seen the movie quite a few times, and what I find fascinating about it is the way I pick up on a couple of new, subtle things in the movie every time. I'm convinced it's one of the best movies ever made, because of the underlying themes, historic context, mythical "Everyplace, USA" setting, etc. The character development in that movie is exceptional -- especially when you see how the personalities of some characters change dramatically in the two different settings (the "real" world, and the world in which George Bailey was never born). And some of the filmmaking techniques were novel at the time -- like the key turning points in the movie where George freezes in his tracks and the camera zooms in on his face to reinforce the importance of the moment.

Don't feel bad about not liking the movie, though. It was apparently not a very big box office draw back when it was released in the 1940s.

I am however, the only human living who has never watched "Its a Wonderful Life" all the way through. I don't like it.

It looks good, but very expensive! $250 canadian dollars, that's still a lot of dough. It kind of looks familiar from the picture. I was busy dropping out of High School and screwing up my life in 1976, so I was a little old for this fare. I'm younger than that now, thank the Lord.

Oh man, ain't that the truth! I've watched it 4 times since Thanksgiving and will watch it again tomorrow. It grows on you, sort of like a wart.

I love scene where the little boy Grinch makes the tree-topper for Martha May, it's so cute (even though it is Mini-Me in disguise).

I have been using: "Hate, hate, hate, double-hate, Loathe entirely" too much myself here lately. I've got to stop.

Carrey really acted the Grinch to a tee, and I don't like Jim Carrey much. I loved the face and the wispie fingers too. And, he was gifted with that Grinch smile at birth, how horrid!
