Iran's Armageddon by Charles Krauthammer

Lest you get carried away with today's good news from Iraq, consider what's happening next door in Iran. The wild pronouncements of the new Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, have gotten sporadic press ever since he called for Israel to be wiped off the map. He subsequently amended himself to say that Israel should simply be extirpated from the Middle East map and moved to some German or Austrian province. Perhaps near the site of an old extermination camp?

Not so sure. I think he is nuts and doesn't get it. But Israel is not going to get hit, unless its retaliatory. Israel is going to whack Iran well before the danger reaches the critical point. That's their modus vivendi. Literally.

You can see the pro-Israel members of the press (like Krauthammer) lining up to provide pre-emptive justification for what's coming. And I'm with them on this.

I don't know, but I guess that only division iamong the administration kept us from moving directly on the Iranians and Syrians. Iranian assets have been on the big map for years.

How does the saying go? Something like, "War cannot be stopped. It can only be postponed to the advantage of another."

I'm very interested to see how this plays out. I'm very curious how good Israel's intelligence is on Iran.

Have they infiltrated thoroughly, and can they blend in well enough to know where all the tunnels are?

Conceivably a massive ground/sea/air blitz would work. Only way to effectively dismantle the program. That would be something.

According to legend (and I could get arrested in France, Germany or Canada for saying this) the Nazis would have been just as happy loading the Jews into cattle cars and shipping them off to Israel.
I have seen pictures of a children's game from the Nazi era called "Juden Raus!" ("Jews out!") The object of the game was to move your pieces (representing Jews) out of Germany. Get all your pieces to Israel first and you won.

Point is, if true, this makes the Iranians worse than the Nazis.

The names, faces and uniforms change, but the basic platform remains the same. Hatred. Death. War. Destruction.

They call themselves Muslims, but their true master is the same enemy we've been fighting since before recorded history. Set, Sutekh, Surtur, Shaithen, Satan, Tiamat, Diavolos, Crom, Kali- every culture puts their own face on the Adversary. And in every culture, there are those who prefer the path of Darkness.

I think it was Einstein. I'm probably wrong, but he's my first guess.

Yep. And that's why our brave armed forces are in Iraq. But In was thinking that we up the ante. For example, we tell these pukes that any nuclear strike upon the US or our allies will be assumed to be from one of these countries led by madmen. Just like we did with the USSR -- warranting a full retaliatory strike. Only this time, a full retaliatory strike will turn them into pre-historic societies.

LOL, obviously, he has the EU in a twitter!

Their sophisticated and superior negotiations are not working, and they are humiliated.

And his people gain national pride in their nukes.

A political play as old as the hills.

I googled it and found it---

"There is no avoiding war; it can only be postponed to the advantage of others."

- Machiavelli

I told you I'd be wrong. :-)

I was just making a joke on Krauthammer. Rush kind of made the same joke today when he said the MSM was chagrined at the success of the election and was just whining, "what next??"

Krauthammer is far more serious...and then there's North Korea...it just doesn't end.

I got the quotation itself wrong, so I can hardly blame ya. :)

There certainly seems to be a build up to some sort of confrontation with Iran, but it's going to be tough. I'm not sure the American populace and some of our political leaders have the will. Our armed forces could handle it, but our soft power has gone, well, soft. Not many can endure the terrible strain of war.

Bush would be totally isolated--the weak-kneed in the Senate and House will abandon him, the traitors of the Other Party will stab him in the back, and the treasonous MSM will do all in its power to whip up outrage and revolt amongst the great unwashed.

Within the next two years, unless Iran's direction makes an unexpected turn, Israel will unleash the Dogs of War.

Two years may be to long if Israeli intelligence sources I've heard quoted are correct. These sources have reported the Israel expects March of next year to be critical....

With all due respect - Mr. Krauthammer (and Mr. David Friedman) are jewish - so it should be no secret that their articles tend to be somewhat inflammatory....

That being said _ I have a great respect for both journalists.

The way I see it the American populace won't have but two choices. Mushroom clouds in our cities...or mushroom clouds in theirs. It's not a hard choice for me to make.

For a woman living under Shira law is to be nonexistent. I would rather be dead than converted.

Bush would be totally isolated--the weak-kneed in the Senate and House will abandon him, the traitors of the Other Party will stab him in the back, and the treasonous MSM will do all in its power to whip up outrage and revolt amongst the great unwashed.

It would only take one mushroom cloud in our country for them to change their minds. We have the will, the dims and the leftist want to ride the back of the crocodile.

Do you suppose, the border fence issue is also being rope-a-doped?

Seems to get a bit more clear, and a bit more possible, each time it's crushed.
