Iran's Armageddon by Charles Krauthammer

Lest you get carried away with today's good news from Iraq, consider what's happening next door in Iran. The wild pronouncements of the new Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, have gotten sporadic press ever since he called for Israel to be wiped off the map. He subsequently amended himself to say that Israel should simply be extirpated from the Middle East map and moved to some German or Austrian province. Perhaps near the site of an old extermination camp?

When Ahmadinejad unexpectedly won the presidential elections...

Ahmadinejad was installed by the mullahs. The "election" was completed orchestrated. This guy was never elected... plain and simple. I hope Iranians will take matters into their own hands before Israel strikes. If Israel strikes... people friendly to the U.S. in Iran will turn against us, and the Islamist movement will solidify. Ahmadinejad is a whacko and hopefully he will be dealt with before things break loose.

Trash talk, plain, simple, and obvious.

"...And no one will do anything about it."

That statement is not true, of course. Within the next two years, unless Iran's direction makes an unexpected turn, Israel will unleash the Dogs of War. Whatever steps Israel takes, they will be a surprise for all. Iran is planning for the worst, with the idea that it can survive and then eventually destroy Israel. But the truth is, Iran, in just two years, will cease to exist.

Lines will be drawn and sides will be chosen. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. God help this planet and all who live on it.

For me and mine, death before Shira.

He's also assuming that he and/or his regime will survive an attack. There's nothing stopping us from also taking *him* out, as well as every single mullah in power that we can target (hopefully we have men tracking their movements 24/7 right now). There's also nothing stopping us from simultaneously sending a "free Iranian" division across the Iran-Iraq border and making sure that anything they meet has an advance date with some cruise missiles (I'm oversimplifying, but you get the picture).

Israel needs to strike first and do it soon. It worked back in the early 80s and set back Iraq's nuclear program by at least a decade

Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and the rest of the maniacal islamics, and N. Korea should be placed on formal notice that any nuclear attack by anybody upon anybody will result in the immediate elimination of their entire populace from the face of the earth. Oh, and the good news will be, that with modern technology, we will still be avble to harvest their remaining natural resources.

If Israel ends up making a move, smart money says that we will be involved, if not publically.

I don't think Israel alone has the resources to do this job. Iran's nuke facilities are too numerous, too well defended, and too far from Israel. If Iran's nuke capability is to be destroyed by an outside force, that force will come from the U.S.A.

That said, it is my expectation that by January 2009, Iran will be far less capable of producing nuclear weapons as compared to today. One way or another.

Go read this article and pay close attention to NK's actions circa 1990 (as compared to Iran's). I agree with your points, but I don't think we have two years. I can now understand the recent assertion from an IDF general that March 2006 was the cutoff date for action.

Actually, I would be very disappointed in this White House if that hadn't been the case for a year.

I would, so I assume they do.

I have been watching with great intrest the ongoing demonstrations that happen almost daily in Iran.

The fact that the Mullahs haven't been able to keep a lid on it is very suggestive of things to come.

I had a bet with a reader that it was going to be Syria first since I see the eye doctor falling soon,  But the Mad Mullahs are just BEGGING for it.

Cheers,

I do not agree. Clinton got away with lobbing missiles at Iraq and bombing Serbia.

I believe G.W. Bush will make use of some heavy firepower before he leaves office.

"Ahhhh, what's that glow over there?"
"That is the glow from the bombed nuclear facility. It is the contamination that you see lighting the area."

I kinda think they realize that... IMO they will NOT strike at all, but will provide the weapon to terrorists who will do the job for them.
