BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraqis voted in a historic parliamentary election Thursday, with strong turnout reported in Sunni Arab areas and even a shortage of ballots in some precincts. Several explosions rocked Baghdad throughout the day, but the level of violence was low. The Iraqi election commission extended voting in the country by an hour because of the high turnout.
The heavy participation by the Sunnis, who had shunned balloting last January, bolstered U.S. hopes of calming the insurgency enough to begin withdrawing its troops next year.

We need to keep track of the most creative negative spins from the MSM. Of which there will be countless versions.
I wonder what upChuck Schumer and the rest of his ilk are going to mutter today....?
I am so happy to see the headline on Drugde is about high turnout instead of "Election slaughter."
Was the judge who extended the voting from St. Louis? Will a losing Iraqi candidate ask his opponent not to get "Snippity" in a couple of hours?
Read carefully this story from the AP from yesterday. I thought it was an Al Qaeda editorial.

Great news.
That garbage takes the cake. LOL. I thought for sure Will Lester had written it.
You bet here is a list of the President's other woes from todays headlines.
1. Prices Drop by Largest Amount in 56 Years. Because GAS pricing are dropping.
2. The Federal Reserve reports that industrial output rose a strong 0.7 percent in November.
3. Third successful Iraqi election in 11 months.
Rasmussen has the President with continued lifting poll numbers with 46% approval.
Yes, Quagmire!
The Iraqis appear to be more passionate and excited about the prospect of Democracy than most U.S. liberals do. How sad.

Oh yeah, and Dow about to hit 11K!
Where are all the White Flag 'Rats today?
They will accuse the elections of being "flawed" because of the shortages of ballots...which caused disenfranchisement...all Bush's fault.
Looks kinda like the character in those "Scream" movies.
I've already heard on CNN that once the parliament is seated, there is a deep concern that violence may be a problem as the differeing views get discussed.....great optimism here.
Let's review the attempts to discredit Bush's Iraq policy
1) The soldiers have bogged down along the Euphrates.
2) Power won't be trnsferred on time to the Iraqi's
3) The first election won't happen
4) The Iraqi's will never understand democracy
5) The US is losing
6) The permanent election won't happen
7) There will be a civil war
8) Iraq will fall aprt into three countries
9) and now, the elctions will lead to sectarian violence
I'm sure I've missed out on things. Keep adding
I can hear pudgy Katie now: "It's unfair that they kept the polls open and gave __ group an advantage."
WHAT A GREAT DAY FOR THE IRAQ'S PEOPLE AND FOR OUR BRAVE TROOPS THAT HAVE MADE THIS POSSIBLE. GOD BLESS THEM ALL!
It is a quagmire only if you are a RAT.
