'Tell bashers you're an Aussie'
The Australian ^ | December 14 2005 | Jonathan Porter

Posted on 12/14/2005 12:39:14 PM PST by knighthawk

NSW Premier Morris Iemma has called on people not to renounce their Australian identity in the face of intimidation by Lebanese gangs - even if it means being bashed.

His advice came after victims of rioting in Sydney told how they were asked if they were Australian before being attacked by large groups of Middle Eastern men.

Mr Iemma said that if approached, people should say: "I'm Australian and this is Australia and this is a country that is here to be shared by all.

"(We are) Australian and proud of it and they're not going to - with baseball bats or with those kind of questions - change the response they get."

He said if he were approached by such a gang he would say he was "proudly Australian", even if it meant being attacked.

Mr Iemma also warned troublemakers that a 500-strong anti-riot squad would be in place over summer to deal with the violence.

"These people have effectively declared war on our society and the values that we hold dear to our hearts, and their behaviour will not be tolerated," he said. "Force will be met with force."

His comments came after NSW Opposition Leader Peter Debnam said tough new police powers to be rubber-stamped with Coalition support in parliament today did "not go far enough".

Trumpeting his new laws, Mr Iemma on Tuesday said rioters' cars would be confiscated.

But Mr Debnam said he had been told at a private briefing with government officials that instead of being confiscated, cars would be impounded only for seven days. "Seven days is an inconvenience, not a punishment. The cars should be sold," Mr Debnam told The Australian.

But he said the Coalition would support the laws.

NSW Police Minister Carl Scully said the police presence would be increased this weekend, as SMS messages encouraging more violence circulated last night.

Deputy Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said text messages urging violence were "a form of terrorism". But he said whole SMS networks could not be shut down, as they were used by emergency services.

The police response to the riots came under the spotlight last night when it emerged that officers were ordered to stay away from a gathering of Lebanese men in Sydney's west on Monday.

The Seven Network said a police incident report instructed officers to stay clear of Punchbowl Park, from where gangs later travelled to the riot hotspot of Cronulla.

Superintendent John Richardson denied the allegations.

"We received information that cars had started to gather at Punchbowl Park. A car crew was sent and reported back that there were 10 cars and approximately 40 men there," he said. "There were no offences being committed and the car crew was ordered to withdraw and observe from afar. There was no trouble and sending police in would only cause trouble."

Damn. Australians need to take their country, and their government, back.

Every Australian I have ever met deserved far better than this.

Listening to 2gb streaming, announcer/commentator thinks the politicians have turned gutless. Says he has seen proof that law enforcement officials have been told to 'hold back' on dealing with 'ethnic' groups.

[Sounds like the pc libs have taken over Oz, just as they are trying to here in the US.]

Australia's Prime Minister better start acting on behalf of Australian citizens and not bowing to the "global" court of leftist multiculturalism. Bottom line is, the truth is Muslims will never be compatible citizens in Australia, or in any other western society. Of course, the only viable solution is to deport all Muslims even at the PC risk of being called horrible names like "racists." Simple: the government explains that after considerable humanistic deliberations, Australia proves to be an unhealthy environment for Muslims.

Kick out the government that does not protect Australia's true citizens. That's not a "civil war" - that is an insurrection of the first order for freedom. Afterall, failed socio-political ideology is at the root cause of all this resident muslim terrorism in western countries. It's the GOVERNMENT's policies at fault.

1) Their religion tells them they're superior and what they do is justified no matter how vicious, racial, etc. the acts of violence become.

2) The lack of will that has been displayed by France, Spain, Britain to some extent, and our own home grown appeasers who just don't get it which includes the media, the Democrats, and all the nut cases who follow them.

The only thing that they respect and the only thing that will stop them is power or force greater and more determined than they are.

The Aussies need to arm themselves and lay down the law to the outsiders in a clear and unmistakable manner.

*Add Holland and possibly Belgium to your list. Canada is too dumbed out to realise what is in store for them.

Why in the hell would Australians "renounce their identity" in the face of punk intimidation?

Would any American renounce his American identity? Well, other than the Vichy Democrats, of course, who have no real American identity to renounce.

Looks like the Premier of New South Wales and his mate Richardson have done some number crunching:

New laws end right to bail
Jonathan Porter
December 14, 2005

EMERGENCY laws removing the right of bail for those accused of rioting are to be pushed through parliament after it emerged that all 27 of those arrested during the first two days of mob violence in Sydney were back on the streets within hours.

The NSW parliament will be recalled tomorrow in the first stage in the fightback against gangs that have "declared war on our society".

Under laws to be enacted, which are similar to those passed for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, six people - the NSW Commissioner and his five deputies - would have the power to declare a lockdown zone to restore order.

Jail terms for rioting will be trebled, from five to 15 years.

And police will be given the power to confiscate the cars of those involved in rioting, and stop and search vehicles at roadblocks. They will also be free to demand the personal details of those in the cars.

Police will also be given the power to search houses and cars without warrants in areas "locked down".

On Sunday and Monday nights, convoys of up to 60 vehicles packed with ethnic Middle Eastern males attacked isolated groups of Caucasian men and women.

The laws, which NSW Premier Morris Iemma said he would finish drafting overnight, will remove the presumption of bail for people accused of rioting.

This follows a political storm sparked by the release of those arrested so far over the riots.

NSW Opposition Leader Peter Debnam said the fact those arrested were back on the streets within hours was "a joke".

"This violence is being led by 150 criminal thugs who are known to police," Mr Debnam said, pledging the Opposition's full support for the new laws.

"They have been arrested and charged many times but under the Government's revolving-door criminal justice system, they are out on the street."

The laws were necessary to battle ethnic Middle Eastern thugs who were ruining the city's international reputation after 48 hours of violence, Mr Iemma said yesterday, adding that he did not care how much the recall of parliament cost.

Mr Iemma, vowing to "take back the streets", said: "It's a case of these people having brought shame on our city. They've effectively declared war on our society, and we won't be found wanting in our response."

Deputy Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said yesterday NSW was in "preliminary discussions" with police in Queensland and Victoria to supplement the state's 14,500-strong force to combat the civil unrest.

But he said he had not yet begun discussions with the Australian Federal Police or the military to help restore order.

An extra 450 police officers split into flying squads were deployed across the battle-zone suburbs in Sydney's south and southwest last night.

There were just 100 extra police in the trouble zones on Monday night.

The flying-squad tactics were necessary to combat the guerilla-like "hit-and-run" tactics of the gangs of Middle Eastern descent, Mr Scipione said.

"Police are actually dealing with a new phenomenon to some extent as opposed to last Sunday, so we're applying new tactics," he said.

Mr Scipione said there could never be "a policeman on every corner", but the patrols would be "rapidly mobile". He added that NSW had "longstanding arrangements" with other states and there had been "preliminary discussions" about receiving extra help if required.

"We have had other states supporting us, if there is an operational need," he said.

Asked how many millions police would be paid in overtime, Mr Scipione said: "There is a lot of money involved for this, but there are more important issues involved and that is keeping this city safe."

(But I do wish everyone would stop calling the muslim Lebanese who are the culprits 'men of middle eastern appearance'. Australia has a number of Lebanese Christians who are a true asset to this Country.)

The Premier Of New South Wales.

Background Iemma was born in Sydney, the only child of Giuseppe and Maria Iemma, migrants from Calabria, Italy. Maria Iemma worked in the clothing trade, and Giuseppe Iemma, a communist supporter in Italy, worked as a machine labourer. Morris joined the Australian Labor Party when he was 16. He was educated at state schools in Sydney, including the recently closed Narwee Boys' High School, and has an economics degree from the University of Sydney and a law degree from the University of Technology, Sydney. Iemma is a member of the dominant right-wing faction of the New South Wales Labor Party. From 1984 to 1986 he was an official with the Commonwealth Bank Employees Union. He then worked as an adviser to Senator Graham Richardson who held the portfolios of environment and social security in the Hawke and Keating governments. He is believed to be still close to Graham Richardson.

The article fails to mention, and confirmed on http://2gb.com/, that cops were ordered to "Stand Down" when it came to arresting additional muslims, because the city did not want to broaden hostilities... Now this just sums it up IMO...

The Lebanese I've known have been Catholics. Call the Muslims what they are: Muslims. It's should not be a matter of ethnic appearance - it's about Muslim behaviors and attitudes. The good people of near Eastern ethnicity will not be out roving and rioting in the streets, nor would they allow the kids out there.

Danny Thomas would be thanking you - he was proud of his Lebanese heritage. He was also a devout Christian (Roman Catholic, IIRC) who raised millions of dollars for the St. Jude's Children's Hospital in L.A.

What they're saying now on the radio, is city officials are not flying their own flags!! Scolding people for displaying them, and and the police say their pole is broken... They will not fly the Australian flag because the regulars(Aussies) were flying them the other day...

They are making their own people revolt!!
