For those of you who are not aware, North Dakota and southwestern Montana got hit with their first blizzard of the season a couple of weeks ago)
This text is from county emergency manager out in the western part of North Dakota state after the storm.
Amusing...
WEATHER BULLETIN
Up here in the Northern Plains we just recovered from a Historic event--- may I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" --- with a historic blizzard of up to 24" inches of snow and winds to 50 MPH that broke trees in half, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed all roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to 10's of thousands.
George Bush did not come.... FEMA staged nothing.... No one howled for the government... No one even uttered an expletive on TV... Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards..... No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House.... No news anchors moved in. No looting No killing Jessie did not show up We just melted snow for water, sent out caravans to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars, fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Aladdin lamps and put on an extra layer of clothes.
Even though a Category "5" blizzard of this scale has never fallen this early...we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.
Everybody is fine
As for The Weather Channel, Central and Eastern Montana as well as Western North Dakota don't even exist.
Get outta here! You were standing on your roof, waving your arms wildly with the sheets spelling out "HELP ME M*THER F*CKER" for the FOX News camera during the non-stop "Blizzard Albert" coverage.
Is Geraldo really that short in person?

"You know, I'm going to start thanking
the woman who cleans the restroom in
the building I work in. I'm going to start
thinking of her as a human being"
Just so long as those knee jerk maggots on the MSM continue to ignore us, I'm happy.
lol Owl, I always love your posts.
HELL NO! I was "etching" it in the snow! :)
Hey,m I think i saw that!
That's true. You're post is right on the mark, no one b!tched for FEMA to show up here.
I'm laughing right now - not at the story though. My oldest is a 19 year old boy who knows EVERYTHING. He decided that the rules of our home were too restrictive (no alcohol, tobacco or drugs) so he moved away. He settled in Minot, ND about 7 months ago after having lived in the SF Bay Area his entire life. Wonder how he likes it ND?
Hehehe!
Was this even mentioned on national tv?
Your right though, folks around here are more reliant on noone to start with, so, they don't need the governments help.
The LMSM is all in a tither with breaking news: Cold winters and hot summer trends are expected to continue until Bush gets US out of iraq.
I have to admit though, the highlight of the NOLA coverage was when Shep interviewed the guy walking his dog, and Shep asks him "Why?" and the guy simply dropped the F-Bomb on live TV.
A blizzard doesn't seep inside all structures in a given area. A blizzard does not leave behind acres of mold-infested drywall. And unlike the NOLA flood, you admittedly get blizzards every year.
Silly comparison.
Heehee. I went thru there once on a train. We stopped for a break and I had a chance to go to a local grocery store near the station. I don't know what Minot is like now, but back in '76...well, I was glad I was getting back on that train.
I was watching when that guy dropped the F bomb at Shep. I would like Shep to find up that fella now and find out how much FEMA money he has gotten and where he is staying these days. If he had to be rescued.
The MSM could market it like they did that little afghan girl found years after her picture was taken.....
Yours is the politically correct version of an Email I received this morning:
Subject: Why Wyoming is a great state!
Wyoming News Bulletin
This text is from a county emergency manager out in the western
part of Wyoming after the storm.
Amusing, if it were not so true...WEATHER BULLETIN
Last winter in Wyoming we recovered from a Historic event ---may I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" --with a historic blizzard of up to 52" inches of snow and wind to
80 MPH that broke trees in half, stranded hundreds of motorists
in lethal snow banks, closed all roads, isolated scores of
communities and cut power to 10's of thousands.
FYI:
George Bush did not come....
FEMA staged nothing....
No one howled for the government...
No one even uttered an expletive on TV....
Jesse Jackson did not show up....
Nobody demanded $2000 debit cards.....
No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House....
No one looted....
Phil Cantori of the Weather Channel did not come....
And Geraldo Rivera did not move in.
Nope, we just melted snow for water, sent out people on horseback to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars, fired up wood stoves, broke out oil lanterns and put on an extra layer of clothes because up here it is 'work or die'. We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes for 'sitting at home' checks.
"In my many travels, I have noticed that once one gets north of
about 42 degrees North Latitude and west of 95 degrees West Longitude, 90% of the world's social problems evaporate."
Wherezat at?
Those North Dakota people knew that they could expect a blizzard. NOLA people, living below sea level and between two rivers did not expect a flood.
You are right. No comparison at all.
Before you go comparing a common event like a big blizzard to Hurricane Katrina, you should go down to the Gulf Coast yourself and see the difference. It's not the same thing. Very few people, if any, will be left homeless by this blizzard.
Not excusing the excessive amounts of whining that came from NOLA, just saying that this is not a valid comparison.
obviously you've never experienced a North Dakota/Montana blizzard if you think it doesn't seep into every nook and cranny in your house.
But, discounting that, if the people who were in Louisiana whining and bitching about the lack of response by the Feds were here, they would have all frozen to death and we probably wouldn't have had to listen to their filth on National TV.
The point behind the post is, We don't depend on others to get us out of difficulty.
We handle it ourselves.
