And isn't it especially disgusting that they attacked the guy's own son? You have to assume he wasn't the only possible absentee ballot to be questioned, but they had to assume that the guy's son voted for him -- they might not have actually be "certain" of that, but it was a likely thing.
Outrageous! Judges like him/her should be impeached treason.
It is more that just the condescension that infuriates me, it is the absolute arrogance by some Democrat "heroes" and "patriots" who served our country 30-40 years ago who believe their opinions regarding our soldiers, on war, and foreign policy are more important (or should not be criticized)than mine or your opinions.
More support for the troops I see. The Dems should be very proud.
Hey here in La. the goverNOT just cancelled the elections till next year. NO kidding, their bus voting machine in NO is broke so they just wont let us have any elections till they get a new one, or get them fixed.
Maybe I'm misreading this, but I assumed he was the only military ballot, or at least the only one that came in after the polls closed. They probably knew that the candidate was a vote short, and then when they got the military ballot, it caused a tie.
But they effectively knew how this sailor voted since they'd already counted all of the other votes, and this was the only one left.
Seems like balloting ought to be confidential, and it was not in this case. This could have been prevented if they'd simply waited until the military ballots were in before counting the votes. Then no one would have been able to tell whether this ballot changed the outcome.
Boiling Blood Bump
How do I do that?
How about a recall? Is that possable?
No such thing in NY.
Yeah, its almost funny. All she did was string together two, basically contradictory, cliches: "every vote counts" and "follow the election law."
I would think the elections board, however, would not permit absentees to be distributed after a date a few days before the election anyway. In principle, I can't object to the ruling, although I can't speak to the letter of the law.
It is most interesting, though, that the Democratic party is at a point where it feels there are no negative reprecussions from acting this way.
It's a local election. In Ithaca. A democrat could sodomize and drown a litter of puppies on TV and still not see any "negative reprecussions."
As for disrespecting a military voter, remember that this is the town that lionized four protesters who threw blood on a soldier a few years ago.

[the] sailor's honesty that did him in. The younger Fisher took the added step of admitting he voted late when he signed the envelope containing his ballot. It was accompanied by a letter from a commanding officer stating that Fisher was off the ship, on a military mission assigned by his commanders, and could not be given the ballot by Election Day. The ballot got to the Tompkins Board of Elections on time, so if Fisher had said nothing, his vote would likely have been counted....In a nation at war across the globe in a self-styled campaign to promote democracy, having a serviceman lose his franchise because he was on a military mission is simply an unacceptable outcome.

This hard to swallow but s**t happens.
We should not view honesty as being punished.
We should thank God that this young man was so forthcoming.
