Thanks for the ping; I've got the VCR set as we are having people in for a dinner party tonight. I'm sure that Brit will do his usual outstanding job.
I'm sure Brit will do a GREAT job with this interview also. As opposed to the nasty hit piece by NBC's Brian Williams last night... :-(
:o)
Will this thread be the Live Thread? If so, perhaps the Moderator can add that identification.
Bump!
WHOO-HOO! Looking forward to it.
That was really a hit piece last night, wasn't it? Brian couldn't bring himself to admit that any good news was coming out of Iraq. But, neither the administration nor we had any reason to expect anything else but a hit piece.
What I don't get is why the administration wanted an interview on MSNBC anyway. They only have about 200 viewers at any given time :-)
BTTT
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my FoxFan list. *Warning: This can be a high-volume ping list at times.
Countdown
10... 9... 8... 7...
Off to watch it now....this is ONE TIME I am happy to be watching hubby's elderly parents! They actually have cable TV! Oh YEAH!
what's going on----
here we go
"The outcome of this war will affect every single American. And that makes it a subject of vital debate. And it's important to be clear about the facts. When our nation was attacked on September the 11th, leaders of both political parties recognized a new reality: If we wait for threats to fully materialize, we will have waited too long. We had to take a hard look at every threat to America after September the 11th, and when we did, one stood apart: Saddam Hussein."
Works for me. :)
Strong endorsement of Tom Delay!
Pres Bush:" Yes, I DO!"

Brit: Secretary rumsfeld?
>> He has conducted two wars and at the same time has helped transform our military from a military that was constructive for the post cold war to one that is going to be constructed to fighterisM. Brit: Is here to stay as far as you are concerned?
>> Yes. End of my term is a long time, but he is doing a heck of a good job. I have no intention of changing him. Brit: Vice president cheney. There has been some thought that the relationship with him on the surface remains fine, that he isn't quite the respected advisor he once might have been to you.
>> People go through in washington, massive speculation about whether he is running the government or not running the government or whether I like him or don't like him, our relationship hasn't changed at all. He is a very close advisor. I had lunch with him today. We discussed a wide variety of topics. And the good thing about dick cheney, and he gives me his advice, i never read it in the newspaper the next day. His advice is valued. Brit: Unchanged?
>> Only gotten better. We didn't know each other that well when we first came to washington, D.C. And my respect has grown for him immensely. I knew he would be a great vice president and is a great vice president and it is a deeper relationship than it was initially, which is only normal. Brit: How about karl rove, the man you once called the architect? He went through some trials and triblations and they appear to be over now and there is some thought that your relationship is more distant than what it was?
>> Somebody said that with speculation and we are still as close as we have ever been and we have been through a lot. We look back at the presidency and my time in politics, no question karl had a lot to do we me getting herE. Brit: Deem crates say there is a culture of corruption among republicans in congress. The delay indictmenT. You have had -- this abramoff thing going on and you have the duke cunningham case. And we have now seen some of the details of that case, rugs and goodies of all kinds and large sums of money. What about that allege that there is a culture of corruption on capitol hill among republicans?
>> I feel duke cunningham is wrong and should be punished for what he did. And I think anybody who does what he did should be punished, republican or democraT. Secondly, I'm -- you know, the abera move, I'm not familiar with a lot that is going on up there, but seems to me he was an equal money dispenser and giving money to people in both political parties. You know, it's really important for all of us in public life to have the highest of ethics to earn the trust of the american people. Brit: Do you hope and expect that tom delay to be majority leader?
>> I hope that he wilL. Brit: Why?
>> Because i like him and plus, when he is over there, we get our votes through the house. We had a remarkable success of legislative victories -- remarkable string of legislative victories. We have cut the taxes, which is yielding a strong economic growth and vitalitY. We had an energy bill that began to put its way to independent. We have a lot more work to be done there. Legal reforms. Strong support for our troops in combat. We have had a good recorD. We reformed medicarE. There are a string of successes and i give tom for iT. The speaker gets credit but tom does, too. Brit: What is your judgment on the prosecutor in the case?
>> I'm not going to go there, simply because i want this trial to be conducted as fairly as possible. The more politics in it, the less likely it's going to be fair. Brit: Do you believe he is innocent?
>> Delay? Yes, i do. Brit: More of my interview after a break. The president says americans must understand what you the troops are accomplishing in iraq. Stay tuned.
>> What's important for the american people to know is one is that our mission in iraq is to target the guilty and protect the innocent. The terrorists's mission in iraq is to target the innocent.
Pointed out that when he had a meeting with Cheney, he didn't read Cheney's advice in the papers the next day, which was one of the reasons he values him so much. HA!
Also said he had no intention of replacing Rumsfeld, and that Karl was as close to him as ever.
