Our very own FReeper "Doctor ZIn" is now involved in a very important online contest between HIS website "Regime Change IRAN", and the equally well-respected "IRAQ the Model."
BOTH have been nominated as finalists for the "Best Middle East blog" in the Annual Weblog Awards.

www.WEBLOGawards.org
As Doctor ZIn posted on a previous thread:Earlier today I wrote the folks over at Iraq the Model, last year's winner of the weblog award and current leader in the polls.
I told them that I admired their work and was therefore frustrated that we are "competitors" in the weblogawards.
They [the folks over at Iraq the Model] wrote back, almost immediately: "I want you to know that I'm a big fan of your blog and I check it almost everyday!
I'm also in support of freedom for the people of Iran who deserve real democracy and true liberty.
Honestly, if your blog wins the title, I will be just as glad as if it were my blog."
So, since "Iraq the Model" won LAST year......and since the elections in Iraq show that tremendous progess is being made over there -- in spite of DNC/media reports to the contrary...
...and since Doctor ZIn is a FReeper......and since Iran is currently governed by a MAD MAN...
...and since "Iraq the Model" is O.K. with "Regime Change Iran" winnning THIS year:
Please CLICK HERE to vote: http://weblogawards.org/2005/12/best_middle_east_or_africa_blo.phpPlease vote RIGHT NOW, while you are thinking about it for: "Regime Change IRAN"

The voting is over and the final results may take some time.
The official announcement of results will be posted no later than Monday December 19, 2005. It will take some time due to their efforts to eliminate all the votes from cheaters.
Trying to beat Iraq The Model on Iraq's election day has been tough. I seriously doubt they have alot of cheaters voting for them. Unless something unusual happens it looks like our friends at ITM have won the award for a second time. They are a great blog and deserve all the acclaim and attention they get.
It appears we have a solid hold on second place. Considering the millions of blogs worldwide, this is still quite an honor.
I want to thank you all your support, especially that of Ron Dog "The Faithful", Jim Robinson, Nuconvert, F14 Pilot, Freedom44, MoJo2001, sionnsar, Paul_Denton, Fred Nerks, JulieRNR21, RobFromGa, Jersey Republican Biker Chick, Mr. Silverback, Blurblogger, BobJ and all the other awesome Freepers who worked so hard to get us to this point.
The good news is that our strong showing has in itself provided us with exposure to a much larger audience.
I can only hope that the decision makers who read our blog are considering the many complicated issues that have to be addressed with the Iranian nation very soon.
The opportunity is there for the west to support the people of Iran in overturning their oppressive regime, but for many reasons the time is running out.
Thank you all so much,
DoctorZin
PS: I heard from Aaron of Aaron's blog, who has been conducting the Deck O'Bloggers contest and he is preparing to restart the campaign after a brief hiatus. He confirmed to me that we are the King of Spades in his deck, thanks in large part to your efforts.

We were more than happy to help. We sure came close. Better to be in the top numbers at least than be obscure.

It was a tough battle. 2nd place is nothing to sneeze at.
Today belongs to Iraq.

As you said ....it was almost impossible to beat ITM on 'this day to remember'!
But winning #2 place is quite an achievement.
Blessings to you, Doctor Zin!

Doctor Zin,
Thank YOU for noble efforts to get the truth out. There are some highly competitive contests in which ALL the contestants are yet winners. This is definitely one such contest.
And the people of Iraq won biggest of all.

THANK YOU to EVERYONE, for helping to put Doctor ZIn's WONDERFUL blog "on the map" -- if not in "first place" --THIS year...
