The January 2006 issue of Vanity Fair includes the magazine's 2005 Best of the Best -- "Heroes! Winners! Guilty Pleasures!" -- feature. Among those honored are the cast of ABC's "Lost," chosen as "Best Find"; the cast of FX's "Nip/Tuck," chosen as "Best Lift"; and aging rockers Sir Bob Geldof and Bono, chosen as "Best Ambassadors." But the choice that catches the eye -- and the breath -- is in the "Best Stand" category. In a two-page spread, winner Cindy Sheehan is photographed lying full length in the grass at her son Casey's grave at the Vacaville-Elimira Cemetery in Vacaville, California:

Looks like he moved.
In the pic where she's "sitting on his grave", note the two headstones behind her - the brown one with the curved top and the shorter stubby grey one.
In the pic where she's "lying on his grave", the backs of those two headstones are now at her feet.
In one of those two pics, she's not over her son's grave, unless the guy was 20 feet tall.

If she were pulling her tricks while Clinton was still in the White House, that would be a real photo. If you don't believe me, just ask Vince Foster.

You get top honors for that one. Kudos!
(And I understand that they did that
twice.)

I understand that, but many cemeteries, regardless of previously allowing traditional headstones throughout the cemetery, will no longer allow doing so at allIt's true... older graves may have tall headstones that are 'grandfathered in', but many (most) cemetaries will only allow new headstones to be flush with the ground. If there is a headstone there, it's a small one.
Another thing to consider, not knowing when the photo was taken, is that it sometimes takes a few ~months~ to have a headstone made and placed.
All this is just to help inform... not to explain this awful picture.

Casey Sheehan's grave did have a marker -
although, I don't know if it's still there or not, since sheehan was ticked about it, too!

That may be a temporary marker placed there until a stone is made. They do take months sometimes.

Most Funeral Parlors stick those down until the permanent ones come, although unfortunately for many thats all they will ever get. The military marker is much larger than that.

That may be a temporary marker placed there until a stone is made. They do take months sometimes. Cindy has stated in the past that she doesn't intend to put a gravestone on his grave
