Casey Sheehan's grave did have a marker -
although, I don't know if it's still there or not, since sheehan was ticked about it, too!

That may be a temporary marker placed there until a stone is made. They do take months sometimes.

Most Funeral Parlors stick those down until the permanent ones come, although unfortunately for many thats all they will ever get. The military marker is much larger than that.

Notice the road in the back ground
Also notice the grave stones in the background don't match up .. different size, different color stone and there are more of them

Do you know if she made a conscious decision about the marker - perhaps as some act of protest? When Reggie Lewis of the Celtics died of a heart attack, his wife did not put a marker on his stone for years (and perhaps still hasn't). When asked, she suggested that until the doctors who allegedly misdiagnosed Reggie were brought to justice (i.e. paid her money) she was not going to put up a marker.

The marker in that photo is a temporary marker. Every funeral home supplies these free. (At least they did back when I was burying people frequently.)
