Stanley Tookie Williams executed Crips gang co-founder put to death for 4 murders

Tuesday, December 13, 2005; Posted: 3:38 a.m. EST (08:38 GMT)

SAN QUENTIN, California (CNN) -- Convicted killer and Crips gang co-founder Stanley Tookie Williams was executed early Tuesday at the California state prison at San Quentin.

The execution went ahead as scheduled after the U.S. Supreme Court late Monday rejected a last-ditch appeal.

The high court's ruling followed California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's decision to deny clemency for Williams, 51, who received a lethal injection at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday (3:01 a.m. ET).

However in John 8, while the people were carrying out the "law" according to Leviticus, Jesus did intervene in the stoning of the adultrous woman, asking those who are sinless to cast the first stone.

So while Jesus did not comment on the death sentence of the thieves on the cross, he did spare the life of the woman.

KEINETODESSTRAFFE WROTE: "He won the Noble Price did he not?"

I believe you are referring to the Nobel Peace Prize.

And no, he did not win it!

He was purportedly nominated for it, but that is supposedly not hard to arrange for.

I used to more or less oppose the death penalty for reasons you have identified. I felt like life in prison was a sufficient punishment. I live in Oklahoma City, and after the bombing I toured "the fence" that had the "lives" of people that were now dead attached to it. Everything inside me understood that the death penalty is appropriate in some instances.

If you are to have a death penalty, it should be speedily administered within the context of making damn sure you have the right man; then, filter out the insanity defense, the mental retardation defense, all the other bull$hit appeal only defenses we see these murderers come up with- and return to a less civilized form of PUBLIC EXECUTION.
Tookie would be lesss of a hero and martyr if he let loose his insides at the end of a rope- same thing for Scott Peterson, et al.

I wonder if those witness can sleep tonight after seeing someone die.

I wonder if Tookie lost any sleep after watching his victims die.

If down the road his innocence is proven

You've been following the hysterical Hollywood drama crowd too long.

This is your 'cause', eh, Keith? To tamp down the slightest hint of satisfaction that justice has been served?

The guy was a murderer and a 'breeder' of other murderers in that he started one of the most vicious gangs in America, 'inspiring' other wannabe toughguys to aspire to his level of 'achievement'. Was it wrong to mete out punishment as is the law in the state of California? Do you think some young urban punk may now think twice about joining up with the likes of Tookie Williams?

I suppose you'll be monitoring our reactions when Saddam Hussein is executed? Ah ah ah! No running in the house now, kids!

JOESBUCKS RESPONDED TO ME: "However in John 8, while the people [not the governmental authorities] were carrying out the "law" according to Leviticus, Jesus did intervene in the stoning of the adultrous woman, asking those who are sinless to cast the first stone."

JOESBUCKS ADDED: "So while Jesus did not comment on the death sentence of the thieves on the cross, he did spare the life of the woman."

She had no trial and was not condemned to death (as were the thieves on the Cross). Her accusers, however, chose not to throw stones when Jesus challenged them to review their own lives.

Here in Germany there is much news coverage about this Tookie-Case, the lefties use this opportunity to bash on America again while they are silent when Iran or China execute and torture every day innocents.

America is disinclined to pay attention to the media of the USSR, Cambodia, or Germany. Given that their history with execution is rather flawed, and not based upon the rule of law.

Morning Keith,
I know Steve Harvey, a celebrity(comedian) did not feel that way.

Steve verbally stated on one of his shows, "If you are out their killing(murderering people) "whether you are black, white and other, You need to go"

This was his response to the oj simpson debacle of justice and his true feelings on murderer&the death penalty.

Steve serves as a role model for all Americans regardless of race, color or creed.

As I See It,

I agree that such autrocities sometimes bring feelings to a boil. Those who do such things are beasts.

Unfortunately, I think Christ left a mixed message. For those of us who wonder about whether the death penalty is appropriate, John 8 seems to support our belief. He actions clearly spared that womans life from what was believed to be the remedy for her sins under the law. For those who believe that Paul's discussion of the civil laws in Romans (where I believe he does draw a line between civil and Christian) and the fact Christ was mute on the cross when hung with the two thieves with regard to the penalty, they hang their hat on those passages.

Again, a mixed message.

We know nothing of their trials if any. And the same of the woman.

They're stating he's innocent? Geez....even if he didn't commit this murder he has committed a series of other murders, rapes and roberies that he wasn't tried for....

He was the co-leader of the Crips....

He deserved to die....period

Finally, some twenty-odd years late.
Too bad they can't do it four times over.

It's no concern. Tookie is definitely a believer now.

I don't think this is anything to celebrate like the coming of the New Year...

Well, it did happen at midnight, with a countdown on TV and all...:D

When I was sixteen, a good friend of mine was murdered. Like the families of Williams' victims, I didn't get justice either. Just a damned media circus and a ridiculous verdict.

The murderer of my friend is a free man today. At least Tookie has finally been forced to pay in full. And Jesse Jackson and Bianca Jagger and International ANSWER and their ass-kissers in the media have all been given the kick in the teeth that they so richly deserve.

So you're DAMNED RIGHT I'm celebrating. I might go so far as to call it rejoicing! Even reveling!

If that offends your sensibilities, too bad.

But when Jesus told the woman's accusers... you who is without sin throw the first stone... was he commenting on the death penalty (let alone how it applies to person who kills multiple people)... or was he commenting on the nature of the pharisee's hearts?

I'm not sure what Jesus was teaching at the time he addressed them was "the death penalty is wrong".

When Jesus said to the woman "neither do I condemn you"... I think he was speaking to her on a spiritual plain. A "kingdom of heaven" plain. I don't think any part of that lesson was pertaining to the death penalty for murderers.
