Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger refused Monday to spare the life of Stanley Tookie Williams, the founder of the murderous Crips gang who awaited execution after midnight in a case that stirred debate over capital punishment and the possibility of redemption on death row.
Schwarzenegger was not swayed by pleas from Hollywood stars and petitions from more than 50,000 people who said that Williams had made amends during more than two decades in prison by writing a memoir and a series of children's books about the dangers of gangs.
With a reprieve from the federal courts considered unlikely, Williams, 51, was set to die by injection at San Quentin State Prison early Tuesday for murdering four people in two 1979 holdups.

I must admit I was an advocate on behalf of Abbott. The story of his life is a sad telling of a wayward youth, a neglected victim of circumstances beyond his control. I read his book, "In the Belly of the Beast", before he was released. I cried for his sake. I swore alot on that day which was within days of his release, in fact, in celebration of his release, when he went manic and murdered an innocent person. Abbott was too young when he was confined to solitary and he became the BEAST.
Maybe we have all sinned and gone astray in some fashion but we haven't all killed 4 people for not reason than we just wanted to see them flop. Tookie deserves this and I am glad he's going to die! Now bring on the rest of death row and let's clean out the rat's nest.

The Gov.... Upheld the rule of law and honored the jury system.

Betcha, America's most reknown anticapitalist-communist, who IS a wealthy capitalist, Harry Belafonte bought 1000 copies of Tookie's books. Belafonte is still searching for children in the Calif. public school system who can read them.
Perhaps that's why murder was the case that they gave him.
