Blanco postpones New Orleans elections 12/12/2005, 12:07 p.m. CT The Associated Press

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Gov. Kathleen Blanco postponed the New Orleans mayoral election indefinitely on Monday, setting up a legal battle with voters who filed a lawsuit seeking to ensure the election is held as scheduled in February.

Blanco's executive order cites the recommendation of Secretary of State Al Ater, the state's top elections officials, who has said the city is incapable of holding elections in February because Hurricane Katrina caused so much damage to polling sites and voting machines.

Apparently, having many residents leave town cannot be used as a valid reason to postpone the election. So they have to come up with this voting machine scam.

Simple question: Why aren't they and the media demanding that the federal government get voting machines in there so the election process can go forward??

She said, "Are they voting? Is anyone voting?"

Yeah momma Blanco, someone's voting tuesday,
someone's voting wednesday, someone's voting thursday,
and then on friday, she cancelled the election!

Yeah but I'll bet they got their slot machines up and working!

Maybe they could just put the candidates names on a slot machine and pull the lever. They might do better than the goons they've elected.

FEMA can have people complete their ballot when they pick up their $2000 debit cards.

Blanco postpones New Orleans elections (indefinitely)

Or as long as it takes to insure that she can control the distribution of some of the billions that will eventually be spent there.

This probably will be struck down in court. Elections can take place in Feb. logistically. The problem is simply that there won't be enough Democrats.

The Dems and her have to do this because the typical Democrat voter is enjoying life on the dole in some other location and most of the residents who lived on higher ground and had insurance are not the typical Democrat voter and that idiot Nagin may run into stiff opposition otherwise.

All I can say is, outstanding, a chance to expose the frauds for who they really are.

You've got it exactly right. If elections are held on schedule, she loses.

New Orleans Election Postponed

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, the entire city council and a host of other local elected officials will remain in office beyond the four-year terms scheduled to end May 1, after Gov. Kathleen Blanco agreed Friday to postpone the city’s Feb. 4 municipal elections.

Gov. Blanco said she made the move for two reasons. One of those reasons is to ensure continuity of leadership. “Ray Nagin’s role has been exemplary,” said Blanco. “He was among the first to blame President Bush. New Orleans cannot afford to lose his courageous finger-pointing ability while the issue of blame is still alive.”

Blanco declined to provide much detail on the second reason. Speculation centers around the need to update voter registration lists to add the names of those killed or missing since the flood. Blanco did characterize this step as vital if the election process is to be carried out in the normal manner.
