Jeanine to disa-Pirro from race vs. Hil ( Pirro Dropping Out of Race Against Hillary )
NY Daily News ^ | 12/12/05 | JOE MAHONEY

Posted on 12/11/2005 7:09:15 PM PST by nj26

Jeanine Pirro is expected to quit her bid to unseat Sen. Hillary Clinton as early as tomorrow, prematurely ending what had been billed as one of the nation's marquee races. Just a few months ago, the smart, aggressive and charming Westchester district attorney was the darling of a Republican Party convinced she was the right candidate who - even if she couldn't beat Clinton - could at least slice into her high approval ratings.

But now, Pirro, 54, is being written off as the first political roadkill of the 2006 election season. And Clinton never even had to throw a punch.

What happened?

"She's been hurt by a lack of money and a campaign that from the beginning has been sputtering at best," said Marist College pollster Lee Miringoff.

Pirro, he said, also fell into the trap of making a central issue of her campaign that Clinton harbors presidential ambitions and won't finish a second term, a claim that, even if true, doesn't seem to matter much to most New Yorkers.

GOP insiders said they expect her to toss in the towel tomorrow when Republican leaders meet in Albany to gear up for next year's elections, which also feature races for governor, state attorney general, Congress and all 212 state lawmakers.

Officially, her campaign says Pirro has no plans to quit, but sources said she will be "drafted" to run for attorney general, a job for which many of her backers say she is well qualified given her background as a prosecutor and former judge.

"I know excrement when I see it."

You mean when you look in the mirror each morning, Chester ?

Who said anything about uniformity?

All I am saying is that in order to win, a candidate should reflect the values of their voters. That's not to say one person could completely represent everybody. That is to say that people in a jurisdiction reach consensus on many issues.

In NY, abortion is one. NYers love having abortion available. They like having it handy. Nice to have on a rainy day. I think NY alone has over 100,000 abortions a year.

A candidate for both parties should reflect that. The issue isn't, then, 'should abortion be legal?' There is a strong consensus on the part of NYers that it should be. The issues then are peripheral: parental notification, government funding, etc.

Running a strong pro life candidate alienates most of the electorate. Why on earth would they elect him or her, given their values?

How many people would you have in a party where you label Sean Hannity a RINO? I know the term "Big Tent" gives you the willies but pragmatism has to be taken into account somewhere.

And still, you offer absolutely no evidence to back up your claims like a good lil RINO. Speaking of excrement...

"And the shrillest of the shrill, will be people posting from Tenn. and such states, who have never set foot in N.Y, or N.J. !"

More excrement from its unequalled champion.

Your silly invective aside, I believe that when a "moderate" Republican wins it only encourages other cowardly whore Republicans with no core convictions and only selfish political ambitions to believe that maybe going "moderate" is a viable way to win. It's so easy to be a "moderate" because you can talk out both sides of your mouth. Meantime, the Republican Party goes down the toilet.

So no thanks, you can keep your stinking "moderates" - - I want them to lose every time.

Regards,
LH

My, my, my, the little man who wants to put up his "knowledge" against mine, doesn't know that William F. Buckley ran for MAYOR OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK in 1965 and came in a dismal third.

The people were offered a rock ribbed Conservative and they didn't want him. Now, you really do have to know that N.Y.C. had far more Conservatives back then, than it does today, to understand this, but you don't know any of that either. :-)

Geeeeeeeee, imagine that...you think that only N.Y.C. votes to elect a New York STATE Senator and Governor. With your "knowledge" and political expertise, you really should be listened to and respected..............NOT!

Keyes was never considered a serious candidate, because he was used BY the IL RINO establishment in an effort to try to discredit Conservative candidates. He received no money, no ACTUAL party support. His mistake was in graciously accepting the nod from those racist RINO cowards who disdained him personally and everything he stood for. As for any debates he held with Obama, the Stepinfetchit for his Massa Byrd in West Vuhginny, he wiped the floor with him. Probably one of the very few instances in the history of American politics when a candidate was better than those he sought to represent.

Spencer was the Mayor of Yonkers. YONKERS, for crying out loud! That's all the proof and evidence you need. But then, you couldn't find Yonkers on a map, if I asked you to, and you won't understand this post, either. LOL

On another thread, someone torched Limbaugh as a globalist.

Oh Mary, having a bout of PMS tonight? Or is the fact that you know less than NOTHING about N.Y. politics the problem?

Of course it does. Witness the terror it strikes in the heart of the RINO establishment when an unbought and unbossed Conservative steps up to the plate. Most average voters have more important things in their lives to worry about.

I don't mind a RINO in New York, but it should at least a RINO whose husband doesn't have a criminal record.

I don't pay much attention to Hannity (I'm not dismissing him, just saying I don't listen to him), so your question does not apply to me. Pragmatism can have its place, but the situation has to be very specific to be justified.

LH, just so you know, the RINO with which you are responding was whining in a thread the other week about the lack of Socialists in the party. He's a Pete McCloskeyite.

Little boy, there are some states where ultra Conservatives can't win.

When you finally understand how things work, perhaps you'll realize that though no, Snowe and Chaffe and Collins aren't perfect, but they DO help us to have a majority. But then, maybe you;re one of those who thoroughly enjoys blood continually running down your face, from the lack of nose. And having Kennedy and Rangle and Hillary as the head of Senate committees must make your heart go pitter pat; yes? :-)

There are NO "RINO apologists here", but there most assuredly a lot of people who have no idea what the term RINO actually means and misuse it constantly.
