p>The Talk Shows
Sunday, December 11th, 2005
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright; Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa.; Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Zalmay Khalilzad, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq; Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del.; Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Khalilzad; Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz.
I asked Tony Snow this same question. He said the shows "bid" to get various guests, and it's based on what's in the news. That they look for and want "colorful" guests they believe will enhance their programs, preferably controversial and who will make more news.
Since I don't know, I'll believe him. I still think there's more ideology and and bias built into who they seek. FNC does have more conservative guests on it, to put forth their views, and the other MSM's seem to promote the left and bash the right as often as they can.
Wasn't it the lawyers that told CLINTOON we had no legal authority to "take" Bin Laden when he was offered up and instead CLINTOON wanted the Saudis to take him. YOU ARE SO RIGHT - IT IS THE LAWYERS THAT WILL DESTROY THIS COUNTRY (directly or indirectly).
I sent an email to the RNC stating that the ad should not be pulled, that many of us had already sent the link to all the members of our contact lists and expecially to service members in Iraq and that the opinion of the BASE should count more than that of of brainless beltway suckup like Graham. I also suggested they tell Graham to put a sock in it and conserve what few, functional brain cells he has left.
For the record .. I don't think all lawyers are bad
There are many good lawyers .. many right here on FR
But with that said ... they should not be making the decisions in fighting a war
That should be the job of the Commander in Chief and MOST OF ALL .. the Military
The only thing that McCain's new law will do is limit our interrogators and make them fear of war-trials if they go too far. It's a pathetic signal to our enemies.
Thanks ... I've suspected they choose the most prickly and arbitrary to W and admin., but I also wonder if the DNC and all their minions in the networks make their stealthy suggestions from indirect requests (untraceable) from the Rats.
Exactly.
And, in researching this for Mr. Peach's letter to Graham, the worst thing we do to jihadists is waterboard them, imo. And we waterboard Special Ops guys to prepare them in the event of torture!
Mostly we sleep deprive them, make them listen to loud music, etc. I only found one article that mentions anything really physical and it was literally called "light punching in the stomach". Big whoop.
Don't forget her proudest "acheivement" was training and arming Arab terrorists in Bosnia.
I should have explained, Snow responded to an e-mail I sent to him asking.
I am also convinced the Democrats are cultivating sources in the media better then the RNC is doing; and because so many hosts and producers are on the left, they see more interest in what the left has to say.
They will invite the same RINO Republicans just to claim they are trying to be fair by having both sides when, in fact, they showcase opposition to President Bush and our policies regardless of party.
Hi snugs ... hope you're having a nice Sunday, and that your Mum and Dad are doing much better. Guess what's falling outside my window again? PS ... MORE white stuff ;) .. ooh, this is getting to be a challenging winter for me.
Rumor is all it is.
Am I correct in remembering Bush & Co saying these enemy combatants are not eligible for the Geneva convention protections, but we were giving them to them anyway. And, that we were going beyond the Geneva conventions in many areas, such as prayer rugs, Koran's, special foods, etc.
I'm still at a loss, not understanding why the military has not simply established a military tribunal to try and then deal with the worst of these enemy combatants. If they're dead, there isn't much else the left can do about it.
Agreed. I understated it.
"which is why they can't be allowed to steer 'The Ship of State' "
Because they always run it aground.
You are 100% correct. The terrorists are not entitled to the Geneva Convention protections, but the president has said they are getting them anyway.
There was an article earlier in the year that detailed how our soldiers who work at Gitmo have had to paint footsteps around the compound and they cannot vary outside those footsteps because the jihadists feel intimidated. There are also times our soldiers cannot patrol at all because the sound of their footsteps interferes with the call to prayer.
Fingers crossed we get some for Christmas I cannot remember the last Christmas we actually had snow on either Christmas or Boxing Day.
