LOL! I remember that night Tazzy....and I remember your pj's being stained purple and you having a horrible tummy ache during the night.

Do y'all 'member the night we went camping? It was a soft summer night and we decided to camp out in our back yard. We didn't have a tent, but draped one of Mama' quilts over a rope we had hung between the two pecan trees. We gathered all our favorite comics to read, snacks--cookies and peanut butter/jelly sammiches, our sleeping bags and pillows, and off we went into the "wilds" of the night. We giggled and read comics by flashlight..till the batteries died, told ghost stories and soon our eyelidss started to droop with sleep.

We snuggled down in the bags...it was still cool at night in early June, and were just about to doze off...when AAAAARRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... pierced the soft cricket-filled night. We all three sat straight up in our sleeping bags, screeched in unison, and tore the quilt off the rope trying to get out fast enought and run into the house to sleep in our own beds!

It was just a coyote singing in the night, but we had never heard one from outside the four walls of our home that late at night.

Mama and Poppa never mentioned it...but I saw them smiling to each other......

I remember when I was little..
My Daddy had a black Chrysler Crown Imperial..
I thought it was the neatest car in the world..
On soft summer nights..
I would gather my comic books, bankie and a flashlight..
and camp out in the back seat..
My Poppa would come and gather me up in the middle of the night, and put me back to bed..
He was strong and handsome, and always smelled so nice...
He was my Hero, and still is...

You teased me something awful about my hair.

Got frizzier than a brillow pad with the dew.

I wanted to bring candles and matches but your wiser counsel prevailed.

In other words you made it clear what would happen to my backside if the parents caught us.

Used to be able to scare ourselves pretty good didn't we.
