Christmas By Song

O Come All Ye Faithful (Adeste Fideles)

This section takes an individual Christmas song and then provides you with as many different artists performing it for you to enjoy.

We will not be playing all the artists and versions that we have. We don't have the space, but we feel you'll get enough variations to enjoy yourself.

Background Information: The Englishman, John Francis Wade, wrote both the words and the music, Adeste Fideles. The Musical score was first published in 1782 in Samuel Webbe's An Essay on the Church Plain Chant in 1782. John Francis Wade first included it in his own 1751 publication of Cantus Diversi. The lyrics were first published in 1760.

If you hear someone using tissues, it's MoJo. This song has watery effects.

To our British and Aussie allies, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Children's Christmas Music From Around The World

The music below is safe for all kids! We have Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa songs from kids around the world!
All of the music is geared specifically for children.

Warning: This section mentions Jesus quite a lot. Just so no one writes MoJo to tell her that there's too much Jesus and why I chose to do so.

Answer: CAUSE I CAN!

Christmas By Song

Hark! The Herald Angel Sings

Background Info:

Felix Medelssohn and Chuck Wesley

Charles Wesley (his brother, John Wesley, founded the Methodist church) is credited with authoring over 3,000 hymns. The lyrics to Hark! The Herald Angels Sing (1739) is one of them. Actually, what he wrote is "Hark how all the welkin rings/Glory to the King of Kings." ("Welkin" means, apparently, "heaven".)  A colleague, the Calvinist Whitfield, substituted the familiar opening line over the protests of the author. Thank welkin for Whitfield. Christmas By Song

Joy To The World

Background Info: Joy to the World
The words and lyrics of the old Christmas carol 'Joy to the World' were written in 1719 by Isaac Watts (1674-1748). The father of John Watts was a Non-conformist and so extreme were his views that he was imprisoned twice. His father's influence over Isaac was demonstrated when he choose to attend Nonconformist Academy at Stoke Newington in preference to a University. Watts was ordained as a Pastor of an Independent congregation. He wrote many hymns and Carols and was awarded a Doctor of Divinity degree by the the University of Edinburgh in 1728. The music to the carol is by George Frederick Handel (1685-1759).

MoJo Thought:
Have you ever noticed while reading articles that when referring to GOD that many folks decide to write it *G-D*? What is that? Is it supposed to mean that it is less potent and offensive by keeping the *o* from appearing? My suggestion to these folks isn't to use God at all. If you can't add the *o*, don't write it. This is true for those of you that believe or don't.

That was actually taken last March..
Right after a big storm (about 12 inches of snow)
We got 7 inches yesterday..
But the trees all all pretty like that today..

My heart doesn't slow down nearly as quick as it once did.

I live right off a major artery. 1/4 mile to splat.

Lost is one thing but lost and probably hit by a car was way too much.

I laughed and cried when I saw her goofy face at the door.

Mail.

Greetings, FReepers, Troops,
and All the Ships at Sea!

Reporting LIVE! from the Fobbit Hole in the rich bottom lands of the Euphrates River Valley, it’s the continuing saga of Sarge's Most Excellent Adventure!

Well, as promised, the Sarge-Cam did the right things today, so here we go on one of Sarge's zany antics! Seems that over the last week, a few rough spots got hit, so Sarge decided to do something off-the-wall for the stressing Kids Of The Company today. Well, the Fireplace was the first step, and with a few modifications, we were ready:

Taking a bolt-cutter to a Hesco barrier, Sarge made a charcoal grate for the
fireplace, and poured a bag of Kingsford from the PX onto the brick.

The next thing we needed, was all the fixin's, so here we are with these:

Three cans of Van Camp's beans, some Jim Beam BBQ Sauce, a can of
cinammon apples, some Hickory-smoked Spam, and a whole
shelf-load of spices, and we were ready. The Marines donated the small pots, as Sarge already had the stock-pot.

So, then we started up Sarge's Chuck Wagon!

People started coming over to see what Sarge was doing, busy as he looked at the
fireside. Paper plates started apperaing out of nowhere, and and after sundown
and a lot of stirring and poking and spicing, Sarge banged on the stockpot lid
and yodeled, "COME AN' GIT IT!!"

And did they ever, by twos bellying up to the pots and sitting by the fireside.

Groan was one of the first to help Sarge with the table and the fire and the fixin's, so first plate was his.

After the food started dissappearing, and the wood started building a nice evening blaze, we all settled in to eat, and talk about the day, and think about all you back home. After a while, the folks started drifting back to the barracks and to work, and Sarge did up all the dishes and settled by the fire himself, happy with the results.

That's what Sarge did today, Folks!

Sarge will be in the area for a while, so Let's Have Fun!

OLD SARGE

I've been in snow up to my armpits.

Was helping my brother deliver newspapers after a blizzard.

Stepped off a retaining wall and I was stuck.

I wasn't so much worried about him getting hit by a car..because we live way out in the country.
However, there is a dairy farm down the road, and also lots of deer around..if he had chased either one..
He would have been shot by the farmer or a game warden.
