BEYOND BELIEF MEDIA DECLARES WAR ON CHRISTMAS

FIRST OFFENSIVE FEATURES NEW YORK TIMES AND USA TODAY ADS, DVD “GUERILLA GIVEAWAYS”

Los Angeles, December 5, 2005 -- Beyond Belief Media has formally declared war on Christmas, the December 25 holiday in which Christians celebrate the birth of the mythical figure Jesus Christ, the company announced today.

“Christian conservatives complain nonstop about the ‘War on Christmas,’ but there really isn’t any such war,” said Beyond Belief Media president Brian Flemming , a former fundamentalist Christian who is now an atheist activist. “So we have decided to wage one, to demonstrate what it would look like if Jesus’ birthday were truly attacked.”

As its opening salvo, Beyond Belief Media has purchased advertisements this week in the New York Times , USA Today and the New Yorker magazine. The company’s 300-member volunteer “street team” is also descending on Christmas-themed public events with random “guerilla giveaways” of Beyond Belief’s acclaimed DVD THE GOD WHO WASN'T THERE .

“No Christmas pageant or Nativity display is safe from our troops,” said Flemming. “Wherever the mythical figure Jesus is celebrated as if he were real, we will be there with an information barrage. We will undercut the idea that there is any point at all to celebrating the ‘birth’ of a character in a fairy tale.”

THE GOD WHO WASN'T THERE is a taboo-shattering documentary that Newsweek says “irreverently lays out the case that Jesus Christ never existed.” The film includes interviews with some of the top religion experts in the world. Directed by Flemming, the movie is also highly critical of the modern Christian right and explores the dangers that religious belief poses to society. The movie has been praised by critics but condemned by pro-theocracy groups such as James Dobson’s Focus on the Family.

“Obviously our ‘War on Christmas’ is a bit tongue-in-cheek,” said Flemming. “But the Christian myth does dominate U.S. culture, and there’s no time better than Christmas to take a fresh look at that myth and see it for what it is.”

The ads may be viewed at http://www.thegodmovie.com. The New Yorker magazine ad appears in the Dec. 12 issue, going on sale today. The New York Times ad appears on Dec. 6, the USA Today ad on Dec. 9. The “guerilla giveaway” raids begin today and continue through Christmas.

Well apparently you didn't believe in Him too much, if you don't now. A REAL Christian believes in his or her faith FOREVER, not just a little while. That isn't a true belief.
Faith is a belief in something without knowledge. I endeavored to gain knowledge about the scriptures, and as it grew, my faith shrank. There was certainly bliss in ignorance, but looking back, I cannot undo what I have learned. I understand and accept that you and others want to retroactively denigrate my original faith, but I know what I had and what I lost.

You are right. A real Christian KNOWS what is right.
And a Merry Christmas to you.

Yeah, and I saw this documentary that proved that the Holocaust never existed either.

"Acclaimed" DVD? I've never heard of it. And plus, "interviews with top religion experts"? Are these Christian theologians? Or atheists? Or Moslems, Hindus, or Buddhists? Maybe they got an interview with the Dalai Lama!

Just curious, what scriptures caused your faith to shrink?

Only 9 posts until Christian threats of violence. Muhammad would be proud.

[flame on] In your case, George Soros must be orgasmic. How many cheeks you got left to turn there, sport? I, for one, shall not play ostrich and bury my head in the sand. Your very attitude smacks of the same appeasing, equivocating dogma that these Leftist crapstains practice in dealing with the heathen Muslim rabble that our soldiers are fighting to protect us from. Lest ye forget, the perpetrators of this quasi-theological conflict are vapid, fetid, fecal, foul, Godless, spiritually shallow subsimians with no true morals as Western Civilization understands them. They are black of heart and corrupt of soul, and their intent is to destroy God and Man by The Death Of A Thousand Cuts. You need look no further than France, or Britain, or Canada, to see how their Marxist counterparts have virtually completed their agenda of turning those once-proud societies into furry little litters of mewing, defenseless secularists, huddled together like a pack of meerkats on the African Plain. Their law enforcement tells them to supplicate themselves before robbers, rapists, and murderers, rather than standing up for themselves and doing what every fiber of their being tells them is Universally Right. They write out 'G-d' in their media and correspondence over a mortal fear that the sight of the word GOD might evoke such feigned, contrived 'outrage' in some unwashed, dirt-worshiping fly magnet, they might have to live their lives in a Big Brother-imposed Hell, ostracized from their family, friends, and society. (I got news for you, Scooter - they're already in a Hell Of Their Own Making. And that's just a Preview Of Coming Attractions.) They're so gaddamned afraid of their own governments' semi-existitential 'Ministry Of Political Correctness' (in the form of their activist judicial systems and cowering bureaucrats [which is their own damned fault]) and every pissant Fruit-Of-The-Month-Club activist organization, they've begun to abandon their entire CULTURES in the name of the Left's pagan god of 'DIVERSITY'. Sound familiar? If not, then get your head out from betwixt your gluteal muscles and take a look outside your own living room window. It's here. And it's coming for you.

I won't waste the electricity to pontificate ad nauseum on this matter any longer. I could fill a library with just the last four years' worth of subversion and treason by The Enemy Within. I firmly, and with conviction, believe we have passed beyond the event horizon of cultural implosion. You, and those like you, have two choices, and only two: you can hitch up your skirt, hide behind the curtains, and try to keep ahead of the bleeding with your little box of myopic Band-Aids, or you can get off your frigging knees. We did not strike the first blow, but if those like me have any say in the matter, we shall strike the last. Now quit wasting my time. [/flame off]

Extreme Christians vs. Extreme Atheists. It'd make a heckuva steel cage match.

Yeah! Know anyone scalping tickets? It'll be a sellout, and I'm not camping out overnight at TicketBastard. Not again, anyway. LMAO

No one person or group will ever take my Christmas from me and my family.
We do not have santa claus in our home.
We celebrate the birthday of Jesus. My 6 and 3 year old grandchildren will tell you it is soon time for the celebration.
We give gifts and enjoy Christmas.
Jesus is in our hearts.

You really need to learn to let go and allow your true opinion to come out.

Oh, and thank you. :)

The so-called "jesus seminar" comes to mind.

Once you really have an true encounter with Jesus - you will never be the same. Being a Christian isn't about knowing the law or just going to church - it is a relationship with Jesus. Once you come to know Him - it is like the song says: No turning back!

Heb.10:35
Do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord, no matter what happens. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so you will continue to do God's will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. "For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay. And a righteous person will live by faith.

But I will have no pleasure in anyone who turns away."

But we are not like those who turn their backs on God and seal their fate. We have faith that assures our salvation.

Oh, and research who uses the term 'G-d'.

Uh, no, I won't bother - nor do I care - who used (or uses) the term 'G-d'. Until about three or four years ago, nobody in this society did, not in my lifetime, unless it was specifically to drop their metaphorical pants and moon the 95% of the population that did. Now it's become a political and cultural fashion statement, like pierced nipples. Well, guess what - your pierced nipples repulse us on a visceral level. Get it? Get it?

BTW - as far as 'calming down' - I'm not even breaking a sweat yet. The next windmill is to your left, Don Quixote.

I had a devout belief in Him?

You truly believed that you were a sinner and that Christ died for your sins? You may not have truly believed that then, otherwise its not possible to later deny His deity.

Faith is a belief in something without knowledge.

This is not faith. This is accepting a false premise as true. You made a mistake when you misdefined faith and you also make a mistake in defining Christian.

Faith is using all of your heart, mind and soul in finding Christ. Christian belief is based on facts and proof, not its absence. You mistook ignorance for faith.

I say, bring on the DVD. Then, if they hand me one, I can show them what I think about it, as I break it in half and hand it back to them.

What I find interesting here is that the person you were replying to said "I endeavored to gain knowledge about the scriptures, and as it grew, my faith shrank." This is interesting in that there are many things out there proporting to be truths 'about' the scripture(s) and depending on the source and truthfulness of these 'truths' you could formulate all sorts of ideas as to the veracity and historicity of the Christian Scripture, and thus to the Person they point to. The fact that he says his study has caused him to renounce (lose, abandon, deny... pick a word) his previous faith makes me wonder what it was he learned about the scriptures that caused this...
