Sears Puts 'Merry Christmas' Signs in Its Stores
Sears has notified the American Family Association (AFA) that "Merry Christmas signs have been shipped and are now on display in all its stores. In addition, the retailer notified AFA that the "Christmas" greeting has also been posted on the Sears.com Web site.
Sears was one of the companies identified by AFA as banning "Christmas" in its in-store promotions and retail advertising.
A list of companies banning Christmas and their responses can be found at www.afa.net.
According to AFA, other companies are also making changes to include "Christmas" in their promotions and advertising.
Lowes notified AFA at the end of November that its "Holiday Trees" in-store promotion had been renamed "Christmas Trees." Walgreens said that it was too late to change printed material this year, but that things would be different next year. AFA says Target, which AFA is boycotting, has stated that it did not intend to ban "Christmas" and it might begin using "Christmas" in TV commercials later this year.
"Corporate America is getting the word from the grassroots," said AFA Chairman Donald W. Wildmon. "We expect a positive response from other companies in the next few days.
Don't have access to my ping list; A VICTORY!
Well DAMN, just DAMN!!
Excellent!!!
I sent a donation to AFA yesterday. They are doing wonderful work. They are nearly 3 million strong and growing. Lets get behind them. They truely represent the AMERICAN FAMILY as our founding fathers had intended.
I will now buy my washer and dryer at your store.
It's nice to see AFA doing something good.
....and didn't they do something corporately...to support the serving soldiers awhile ago?
I know who's getting my Christmas $$.
Their attempts at political correctness have proven to backfire.
I wish as much attention was focused on the back office dealings at corporate America as the store displays and greeting they are instructed to use with customers.
The controversy for me is not the lack of celebrating Christmas at these retailers (not just Sears), it is that they formerly embraced it and use PC word substitution to shelter the "change". When a company like Target includes Gay Pride Month and the Communist International Womens' Day on their diversity calendar, it is clear that they embrace a different culture at the exclusion of mine.
Nice to see retailers responding to customer demand!
I know where I want to buy.
Way to go Sears!
Good work to all of those involved in reversing this PC nonsense. My boycott of Sears may be ending, but I will be sure to tell them why.
If this trend keeps up, the humanist-socialist-leftwing idiots will only have the gov't institutions under their control. And that is the next battle.
No let's see how many people realllly get offended by this. I'm willing to bet their sales only increase and not decrease...
I think I'll go buy some router bits from them today.
I will now apply for a new credit card . . .
Tore up the Sears Card a few days ago . . . they did not recognize Christmas . . . I did not recognize Sears.
The will get a second chance from a reasonable right wing conservative.
This issue has me torn. On one hand I oppose the commercialization of Christmas. On the other hand I oppose ignoring Christ, the reason for the season.
What to do???
P.S. Happy Hannukah!!
EXCELLENT.
Merry Christmas.
