The Supreme Court justices signaled Tuesday that they would uphold the military's right to recruit on college campuses and at law schools, despite its policy of excluding openly gay people from its ranks.

I saw some of them screaming like pigs on the Fox whining heads shows last night. Warms the heart.
Good choice! We have enough problems with some of the graduates of the unpatriotic school systems which are so prevalent today.

Money talks BS walks. I remembered in the days of Reagan when he tried to get universities involved with research on SDI. Many leftwing professors called it "Star Wars" and threatened to boycott it. Then Reagan changed the federal laws to allow the participants in federally funded research to earn royalties from patents derived from the research. In the past federally funded research allowed the researchers to get recognition from patents but they were not allowed to collect royalties from the patents because the federal government funded it and thus it belonged to the public. Once the change was implemented, the opposition to SDI research disappeared. Many universities were willing to take on federal grants to conduct research for SDI.
The military also excludes people who are overweight, too tall, too short, too thin, have disabilities, have criminal records, have low IQs, etc.
Oddly enough, it seems like they're more interested in upholding US Policy and protecting the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic, than they are in being an employment service. I'm sure that would have changed if John Kerry would have been elected.
And of course we all know that they had no intentions of winning this, they just wanted to make a good showing for the radical faculty and alumni. They will certainly sell their "principles" for a seat at the federal trough.
Are they going to try to ban religions next? After all the churches have anti-gay policies too. I'd like to see them try it.
Let the ignorant speak. That way we know where they are.
The sound of a stuck pig in an awful thing, unless it's coming from a frightened liberal.
What principles?
The USSC has no choice but to uphold the law passed by Congress.
Yeah, I know. That why I used quotation marks.
As long as those laws don't conflict with the Constitution. (but yes, I agree)
Between the MSM and the ACLU, your ear drums must be bursting from the sound of the evil ones trying to do that very thing.
Keep the faith, all will be well in the end.

Actually, the right of colleges and universities to bar military recruiters has never been questioned. The case is over whether those institutions are entitled to federal money.
The consequences of a victory by academia would be interesting. Congress has attached many strings to its entitlements. States must adhere to federal transportation and environmental policy in order to keep transportation dollars. They also must adhere to education policies to keep education dollars. If academia wins this case, then all of those other policies are in trouble.
Ahem... they already can't see straight, therein lies their problem.
:^)
Colleges get millions from the fed each year for research. If military cannot recruit on college campuses, maybe the research dollars can go elsewhere.
It said in the article that even Breyer, who I consider to be a real looney-left dope, said that what colleges need is MORE free speech (i.e., allowing military recruiters along with all other recruiters on campus), not less. Good point: the universities all scream about their "free speech" rights which seem to take the form of denying everyone else's free speech.
