(Denny Crane: "I Don't Want To Socialize With A Pinko Liberal Democrat Commie.Say What You Like About Republicans. We Stick To Our Convictions. Even When We Know We're Dead Wrong.")
i have made it an effort this year to say merry christmas to everyone i meet, including what appeared to me to be a muslim. well, he looked muslim and was working at a 7/11. no humor intended, its true. regardless, every single one has said merry christmas back to me with a smile. we need to adopt the old russian saw, you pretend to make good rules and we will pretend to obey them.
I'm tired of Christians embracing the victim identity. Sure, some companies in an attempt to be politcally correct have gone over the top with "holiday trees." But is it because they're persecuting Christians or have they seen a way to sell more Christmas trees by trying to coax the Jews and the Hindus and atheists into buying a Holiday Tree? I don't know and I don't care.
Most corporate execs making assinine decisions celebrate Christmas only for the buying frenzy that boosts revenue. I'm teaching my children why we celebrate Christmas, and I pray that one day they teach their children.
It's our Savior's birthday.
Besides, it cheapens the "Holiday Mood" (once known as "Christmas spirit") when Christians walk around scowling at anyone who tells them to have a happy holiday. I'm just going to smile and say "Merry Christmas" and be happy that it's my favorite time of year again.
Thanks for the post.
I think what amazes me is the effort to coerce what some people believe to be courtesy to others.
I have found that most conservatives are polite and friendly. I have found a very mixed bag among liberals. Okay, maybe that's an understatement. I find fewer liberals who can be thoughtful and courteous to someone with whom they disagree. When I find the ones who can agree to disagree, they are a rare gift.
I've heard alot about the "death of Christmas" year after year. I'm glad someone finally assigns blame as to the reason for it.
I though of this last week, when I read the story about the church in California being investigated by the IRS because of an anti-Bush sermon by the minister...

PS. About 10 years ago, leaving Yankee Stadium, we took a detour through the Bronx to avoid a traffic jam on the highway. Went past the temple..It was now a mosque...There's a lesson there, somewheres...
We live in a country with a lot of "damn fools."
The dorky liberal secular humanists don't think that suppressing Christmas is a problem. They think that it is the waning of Charles Darwin that is the real danger. According to this bizarre mythology, unless everyone is conditioned to spend hours upon hours tracing evolutionary monkey charts the whole society will languish under a new "Dark Ages." Go figure. Never once in my adult life has matching monkey fossils with geological graphs ever popped up as an essential vital emergency. But then liberal secular humanists are always trying to load people up with superfluous non-essential homework.
All things considered, I'll take the "Christmas Tree" and "Silent Night" once a year. The country will be better off.
I've gotten that idea too.
It is the ACLU, which is overwhelmingly Jewish in terms of membership and funding, that is leading the attack against Christianity in America.
It is Jews who worship a golden calf and have turned their backs on Mosaic Law!
Nuclear Option Ping
LOL!! That's right!!
....I blame my fellow Jews. When it comes to pushing the multicultural, anti-Christian agenda, you find Jewish judges, Jewish journalists, and the American Civil Liberties Union, at the forefront.....
Hmmm The man is speaking the unspeakable words. He is of course correct. The attempt to equalize a minority with the majority is finally being repulsed.
It is very sad. There are enough anti-Christian Christians like Barry Lynn to be the Grinch and this is a battle that Jews should avoid.
Unfortunately it is these Jews that will stand out and create a stereotype -just like the Jewish Spartacists in Germany and the Jewish Bolsheviks in Russia.
Even though the ACLU_Jews are JINO vermin kapo types- do the gentiles that their pissing off know or care? Did the gentile Germans care that Jews were overrepresented in the Kaisers army- or did they only remember Kurt Eisner and Rosa Luxenberg.
Jewish Jews have to prevent the JINO kapo ACLUers from destroying goodwill and creating negative stereotypes-just like Italian-Americans are in the forefront of combating organized crime.
I am the token Orthodox Jew where I work, and I don't mind when empolyees play Xmas music. In fact if anyone says to me "Happy Holidays"- I always respond_"Merry Christmas"
The author of this article is wrong. The word Christmas is not forbidden at Macy's this year. If you want a store that is using the phrase "Merry Christmas", go to Macy's.
His facts contradict his conclusions.
If this is a Christian nation because of the Christian majority, with Jews making up less then 3% of the population, then if every single Jew using every single Jewish lawyer and Judge intended to "abolish" Christmas, they would be unable. Voted down, overruled by the majority.
Thanks for the post.
Damn....that may be the best most concise HOWL from a jewish conservative who is just as fed up as I am with all of this steady attack on our culture.
I was at an ornament party last weekend at a Jewish home with many Jews there. None of them seemed the least bit offended. (ornament party: bring ornaments or decorations...any Gomer knows what sort of Christmas season ornament to bring to a Christmas season party at a Jewish home with Jews there) ...a sense of perspective lost on those wishing to marginalize Christmas.
I am so happy to see folks fighting back.
But I would note that it truly is discouraging to see a fair number of FReepers either ambivalent about this or plain hostile to fighting back about Christmas. Eye opening.
That's a nice article. You of all people well know that if the Christians are put down there will be nothing between the mob and the Jews. And at that point a plaintive cry of "but I'm an aaaaa-theist" won't get them anything but more abuse before... well, we all know where the story ends.
I think it was a Mark Steyn column that was exploring the hypothesis that it was secularism in France that allowed the muslim problem to fester as it did, and left the French authorities helpless to face it down. Nature abhors a vacuum, and when religion is suppressed and stamped out (a process that has taken France a couple of hundred years to complete), something moves in to take its place.
