Update:

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The trial of Saddam Hussein resumed Wednesday after a lengthy delay but without the former president, who had declared the day before that he would not take part in an "unjust" court.

The seven other defendants and Saddam's lawyers were present in the courtroom when Chief Judge Rizgar Mohammed Amin convened the session at 3 p.m., about four hours late.

Amin said the court would inform Saddam about the proceedings that took place during his absence.

Saddam Hussein refuses to take part in the audience of Wednesday

BAGHDAD - the judges of the High Iraqi penal Court and the lawyers of Saddam Hussein are brought together Wednesday before the audience because of the refusal of the former Iraqi president to take part in it, one learned near the court.

Saddam Hussein had reproached Tuesday evening the court for having decided to hold a new audience Wednesday, stressing that after those of Monday and Tuesday, it did not have any more clean clothes and could not smoke nor to go. "Go to the devil!", it had launched in conclusion.

Saddam must have advance wraning of a terrorist assult on the trial. He doesn't want to be caught in the crossfire.

Cuff him, gag him and drag his arse into the Court room. FORCE that dirty piece of old shoe to listen to what he created. Again and again and again.

Then hang him. Or perhaps dose him w/ some of his own tactics first.

If the MSM mattered, we'd actually hear about the evidence being brought forth against Saddam, not his antics. Yesterday a woman spoke - telling in great detail about her brutal torture at the hands of Saddam's henchman. But the headline was Saddam telling the judge to "go to hell." Deflect from the evidence... a classic defense diversionary tactic.

LOL! They could strap him to a board like Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs.

I'd stick him in some Victoria's Secret underwear and haul him into the darn courthouse wearing that.
Oh, I LOVE that idea! Of course, the left would call that torture vs. the humiliation that it really is.

That IS torture.

Of the spectators.

This kind of reminds me of his trial. Too bad this trial is moving much slower than Ceausescu's.

Exactly, try him in absentia and hang him in person.

The biggest problem with this situation is watch the media make a folk hero out of the POS.

After all he has a worldwide audience. He should have been ventilated in his spider hole.

Exactly! The other trumpet the MSM was blowing yesterday was having that idiot Ramsey Clark on giving hisd dissertation on how "lives are at stake" and the trial is unfair. Another diversion - and nothing about the victims of this heinous brute and his sadistic henchmen.

You can be sure he'll be there for his execution. I just hope it's a slow, agonizing death.

Since when do crimnals get to decide if they'll show up at court or not?

That's my question also; you are the only one to ask and no one has answered.

He should have been bound and gagged when he first started his "outbursts" and told from the beginning that if he could not control himself he would be confined to his cell and would have to watch the proceedings via closed circuit television. As it is, they have let him take control of the courtroom away from the judge and turn the whole proceeding into a circus.

Why even have this mock trial. Does anyone think he will be found not guilty. Just take him to some dark alley and put a bullet in the back of his head. Sometimes a trail is a waist of time and effort.

.....The only thing that matters is that he appears at his execution.......

My version was going to be "although he was absent for much of the trial, sources are certain he will be present for the execution"

Sometimes a trail is a waist of time and effort.

I imagine this trial is somehwat cathartic for the victims of Saddam. I've heard some real horror stories about that monster personally from some of the Iraqis.

I suspect Saddam does not like seeing the witnesses testify and know that they can without fear of his usually fatal retribution. That's probably what's "fatiguing" that sorry piece of flesh.
