FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- Key dates in the criminal history of Lionel Tate, convicted of killing a 6-year-old girl when he was 12. He now faces a return to prison for the alleged armed robbery of a pizza delivery man and other probation violations.
- July 1999: Tiffany Eunick, 6, died from blunt trauma injuries suffered after she was left with Tate's mother, who was baby-sitting her. Tate was 12 at the time.
- August 1999: Tate is charged with first-degree murder after confessing he gave the girl a bear hug, dropped her on the floor and hit her head on a table. Tate's lawyers initially contend the boy was imitating wrestling moves he had seen on television.
- January 2001: Tate is convicted of first-degree murder. A judge later sentences Tate to life in prison without parole, making him the youngest person in modern U.S. history to receive such a sentence.
- June 2001: Gov. Jeb Bush refuses to hear early clemency request, making Tate serve at least two years of his first-degree murder sentence before he is considered for clemency.

Once a thug, always a thug
When will folks forget all the crap about the death penalty: the point is not punishment, rehabilitation or deterrance. It is, first and foremost, gene-pool hygiene. A twelve-year-old that kills intentionally should be eliminated like any other killer.
They had better buy a roll of paper for this kid's rap sheet. Seems to just get longer and longer.........
Born a thug; will die a thug.
A punk, is a punk, is a punk.... and all the psychobabble in the world won't change that reality.
We should start a pool.
His mother is a total idiot and is Lionel's enabler. Oh, and she still is a Florida State trooper.
I have no problem with execution being the penalty for out right murderers. And 12 year old Lionel Tate was one. I think he's 15 years old now.
Yup. The only exception I would make is the clear-cut accident: if I fall out a window and land on you, causing your death, then execution might be waived.
LOLOL!!! You people slay me sometimes!
Lionel Tate will turn 19 this January 30th.

This kid knows the game now. Following in Rodney King's footsteps.
Holy cow. Time marches on. All I know he stomped the girl to death with wrestling moves he got from TV. He tried to blame pro wrestlers for the murder as though he's too stupid to know when he's killing someone. He's a bad seed who needs to be recycled but it's hard enough to get heinous adult murderers executed.
LOL. Something in the Talmud goes like that. I think it has to do with getting a woman pregnant
-----He should have NEVER walked the streets free again after that little girls' murder.
