Is a Bush endorsement of McCain enough to sway your opinion?

Posted on 12/04/2005 9:19:56 AM PST by cubram

Some on the morning talk shows suggested that McCain is the natural successor to Bush for his committment to the war, and that Bush will "pass the baton" to him.

My question is: if Bush endorses McCain will you think aboout voting for him? Personally I don't care for McCain for a number of reasons, but if I think he will continue W's legacy, I might reconsider.

What do you think?

We must simply get Condi on board!!

Why? What do we even know about Condi? Is she pro-life? is she pro Second Amendment? Does she favor lower taxes and reduced government spending? Does she support traditional marriage? What does she think about racial quotas, faith based iniatives, school vouchers, reducing the size and scope of government? I don't know where she stands on any issue at all...why should I support her now?

Let us pray that we will have a good candidate running against him in the primaries.

However, if he were to endorse anyone it is most likely a governor or former governor, probably either George Allen or, if things work out just right, Jeb.

OMG, NO! We can't afford another Bush in the White House. Jeb is a globalist just like Bush one and two!

...while captive most likly suffered much and should be rewarded,...
...we might think of othe ways to reward him...

You are kidding...right???

Do you realize he has been living a life most of us only dream of, AT OUR EXPENSE, since 1986?

Twenty-two years, in 2008, of government welfare is enough. He needs to retire and LIVE in Arizona.

No way, the next President MUST kick the lib media in the teeth, daily, relentlessly, and completely.

No more media whores, and that goes for the Senate too.

Thanks to the Terri Schiavo debacle, I seriously doubt Jeb has a chance. I don't think the voters would consider what would appear to be a political dynasty, either.

If the assumption is that McCain most represents the ideological and intellectual heir to George W. Bush, then somebody is asking us to bite a mighty big bullet.

John McCain has a certain degree of gravitas, but it is greatly outweighed by other baggage he is carrying, enough of which would be used as ammunition against McCain by the very same people who go into swoons when he publicly disagrees with some position or another that Bush may hold.

McCain comes to us as damaged goods. George Allen, not exhibiting any visible damage as yet. And something of an heir to Ronaldus Magnus himself.

"Personnally, I'm not going to be a party to driving off the cliff. If someone else wants to get in the car headed toward the cliff, be my guest, just don't expect me to get in the car with you.."

It appears to me, using your logic necessitates that one would have to renounce their citizenship and move out of the country to avoid going over the cliff.

Campaign against the man during the primaries, but for crying out loud, don't take your ball and go home if he wins the nomination.

Yes. It will change my opinion from frustrated and somewhat angry at President Bush to being totally furious and loathing him. My opinion of McCain will not change as I can't despise him any more than I already do and there's basically nothing he can do to redeem himself in my eyes.

Be careful which delegate you vote for in the Republican primaries. Find out beforehand what candidate they are committed to if they win and go to the convention.

Every freeper willing and able should start thinking RIGHT NOW about running for delegate and saving $$$'s for the trip and the stay in the convention city.

We can rant all we want on this forum, but if we don't want McManiac or some other kook, we have to pack that convention with conservatives.....just like the Dem convention is packed with teachers, union thugs, social workers, League of Women Vipers snobs, NAG feminazis and environmental whackos.

Think about this, fellow freepers. RUN FOR DELEGATE! Investigate the "hows" by meeting with a good local conservative Republican politician you can trust.

Leni

I never heard about this before. It helps to explain his desire to muzzle free speech.

Would I vote for this guy, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If he were the candidate against HC, I still wouldn't vote for him. The conservative movement did advance alot when BC was president because they had to be stronger and more resolute in supporting our ideals. What's happened with control of both houses, not much.

I'd vote for McCain over Killary. Hell, I'm a Republican. Hodling my nose at the voting booth is OLD HAT.

And this is precisely what the plan is. I don't know how the RNC does it, but they're orchestrating this whole thing somehow. Mark my word, Hillary will be the Dem candidate and the RNC is going to run the worst RINO they think they can elect because they know that we're going to hold our noses and vote for the RINO dirtbag against Shrillary. I'm so sick of this crap.

McCain has an uphill battle to win the conservative base to his side. I believe he is a conservative he just seems to have the idea that somehow he can win favor with moderates and liberals by accepting their false premises in small doses with parsed language beating himself with his own stick like a child who caught in a misdeed quickly elects to meet out his own punishment in hopes that it spares him the beating he would get otherwise. He has in a way won some favor that way but as with his failed Presidential run it does not translate and will not translate into votes. People tend to lose faith in political chimeras because while they are constituted of parts that many people like individually that same appeal to each individual taste means that you are guaranteed to be also constituted of parts that also offend each of these same individuals. While one may like the lion's head they may be offended by the snake’s tail or the eagle’s wings or the forked tongue.

You've raised some excellent points, Leni. Now to find a good, local Republican politician that can be trusted.
