why is ACLU hated among most Americans?

Posted on 12/04/2005 6:22:13 AM PST by Khashayar

It has been my question since I became a member on FR.

Why do conservatives in the US hate/disagree with/dislike the ACLU

Are they not a group to protect civil liberties of the American society?

I mean the very values that America's founding fathers dreamed of.

Any how, it is amazing for me why most people in the states disagree with whatever ACLU does.

Thanks for attention!

The ACLU is about civil liberties in the same way that North Korea, the "People's Republic," is about the people. Or the former East Germany, the "German Democratic Republic," was democratic. Get it?

I believe that years ago the ACLU was started for good reasons but has been corrupted and taken over by leftists over the years. Not unlike Unions who started out doing good for workers and now are a bunch of crooks with political motives. Both are out dated and need to be done away with. Both are bad for Americans. And while you're at it, you might add the AARP to this list.

You have to realize WHO Kashayar is,
and from WHERE he writes. He sees no
reason NOT to take the organization's
ACLU nomenclature literally!

How very "troll" of you.

The ACLU is a commie organization.

The lawyers I know who are involved with the ACLU are left wing lunatics who rejoice at every defeat of the USA, rejoice at every perversion which attacks families, and rejoice at the hedonism which subverts any standards.

There is NOTHING redeming by the ACLU, there is NOTHING of value to them. If they are on the right side of an issue is is only because of left wing implications or because it is a no looser.

Check his homepage. Iranian, yet writes pretty good English. The ACLU question is valid coming from a non-American. Foreign media is very skewed regarding the Marxixt-socialist agenda. They (foreign media tools) actually believe that it has not worked simply because the right benevolent dictator has never been given the chance. And the peasants are too stupid and ignorant to just shut up and do as the elite tell them.

Sorry, my friend.

The ACLU was NOT 'started for good reasons'.

It was founded by communists and has never changed.

Their sole focus is and always has been the destruction of everything good about America.

The ACLU would be better named Antiamerican Communist litigation unit. The ACLU has rejected all lawsuits to help Christians and has tried to shove all anti Christian religions down throat to the USA!

You will never understand America, nor our form of government, until you understand Christianity.

Christianity is compatible with freedom.

Christianity is 'tolerant', in the best sense of that word.

Christian liberty is the greatest thing there is.

Christian 'charity', or love, put into practice, negates the need for most of the normally thought of functions of government...those parts of government that have to do with the restraining of the evil nature of men.

It's called self-government in the civil sense.

Islam, however, is, and ever shall remain, totally incompatible with true freedom.

Islam literally means 'submission'...

Reasons I dislike (and often hate) the ACLU:
1. Springs forward to represent NAMBLA and expects pats on the back
2. Promotes reduction in age of consent (well, at least former ACLU
big-wig Ruth Bader-Ginsberg advocated this position)
3. Playing the Uber-Grinch in trying to erase Christmas and The Ten
Commandments from the commons
4. Being truly cynical; e.g., "We at the ACLU represent everyone, we even
filed for Richard Nixon!" (and then closed their offices for ONE minute in
recognition of Nixon's passing)
5. Spreading their insane ideals to other countries (e.g., founder Roger
Baldwin going to Japan after WWII surrender to spread his ACLU gospel)

You are probably right as I don't know the whole history of the ACLU. I do know that they are evil now. (Good to hear from you, friend)

Viewed from afar, your impression that the ACLU would symbolize the best
in concepts of our Founding Fathers is understandable.

BUT, the ACLU is really just the legal and propaganda arm of people
that really are socialist, anti-capitalist and wishing to strip society
of morals and religion.

I actually am glad the ACLU exists. It provides a calibration point to
easily spot folks who really are focused on weakening the fabric of the USA.
And it lets the usual set of nutburgers that come out of universities and
some of our law schools blow off steam in generally non-violent ways.

Well, the fact that they grew out of the early Communist movement might have something to do with it. As far as I am concerned, the ACLU is the most dangerous organization in the United States; even more so than Al Queda. If they have their way we might as well run up the white flag of surrender to bin Laden and his goons.

I recommend reading up on the recent activities of the ACLU in that case.
