Mexican official: flow of migrants will grow for several more years (the invasion continues)
Union-Tribune ^ | 12/2/05 | Mark Stevenson

MEXICO CITY – The number of Mexicans leaving their country – almost all for the United States – has reached 400,000 per year and will continue to grow for several more years, the head of Mexico's National Population Council said on Friday.

The increase in migration has coincided with the United States increasing security on its southern border.

"The effort to increase control of the (U.S.) border has not reduced migratory flows one little bit," Council Secretary General Elena Zuniga said. "After 15 years, what we have seen is a growth in migration, and growth in a way that is much less safe."

She said increased border controls have largely served to help fuel growth in migrant trafficking organizations.

The migration is fueled mainly by demographic pressure and a lack of jobs in Mexico, Zuniga said. It will eventually turn downward when those pressures ease, mainly through economic growth and reduced birthrates, she said.

"We predict that we will not be able to sustain the growth in migration," because of a drop in birth rates here, she said.

God help us all.

This article says that the number of Mexicans leaving has reached 400,000 per year and will continue to grow for several more years. I came across another article today that says migration from Mexico is at 1,000,000 a year, but it will probably slow down around the year 2050.

Dr. Vicente Diaz, director of Mexfam, laid out the new reality of a Mexico that has been so overpopulated it had to send millions of its citizens to "El Norte."

[snip]

Octavio Mojarro Davila, director general of programming of the National Population Council in Mexico said, "We now predict it [Mexico's population] will stabilize at 130 million around 2050. Immigration will start to slow down. Now, about 1 million are entering the U.S. every year. Then it will slow to 700,000 ... then 400,000 ... then ..."

The Reagan administration use to conduct interior enforcement. Unfortunately President Reagan was conned into signing the 1985 Immigration Reform Act when the Democrats refused to support the bill unless it included amnesty for these criminals who violated our country's sovereignty.

Some times I wonder what El Presedente Fox has on President Bush ? The Mexican government has been dictating our immigration policies way to long now.

It has gotten to where the Mexican government is now making threats. The proper strategy for conducting a war against world terrorism would have been to invade Mexico before Iraq. Mexico is a bigger threat to our security and culture than Saddam ever was.

Our government is silent as the Mexican government slaps us across the face laughing at us.

Am I the only one that views this statement as an apology of not being able to supply the demand? Who is she sending a signal to that the commodity of Mexican labor will encounter a short fall?

If this isn't proof of collusion between elements of our government and Mexico for open borders, then what is?

That's what I thought at first, but read it again.

"We predict that we will not be able to sustain the growth in migration," because of a drop in birth rates here, she said.
Perhaps she is just mourning the potential loss of revenue for Mexico. After all, the fewer migrants there are up here, the less money (remittances) there is being sent back to Mexico.

(What do you think?)

Decreasing birth rate is the reason for fewer 'bodies' available for cheap labor in the US. Therefore a loss of revenue to Mexico as you say. It's a loss all the way around. Lost revenue to Mexico from less funds sent back and loss of profits by US businesses due to loss of cheap labor.

How in the world could they expect to sustain a positive birth rate in Mexico when more and more of their population, of child bearing age, reside in the USA?

After 9/11 there is no excuse. GWB has not only increased this problem sevenfold, but he has given carte blanch to all future invaders of the country with his shamnesty plan that is a disgusting joke and parlor trick.

Arie Hoekman, the population fund's representative in Mexico, said that "lately, we are seeing a greater flow in undocumented migrants with very low educational levels."

Really?  Ya think?  It was pretty obvious to me 20 years ago that the illegals coming across were not the brightest bulbs in the billboard.  But hey, it will only take about 3 - 5 generations and trillions in welfare, increased school budgets, prisons, medical care and the illegal's will be right on their feet!

Experts at the meeting noted that migration not only affects the lives of the migrants and the countries to which they emigrate, but also their own hometowns, where relatives receive the money they send home.

Yep. Their hometowns benefit alright.  Their unemployed vanish and U.S. cash flows in, for free.

"In some places, they've stopped working the land, and live off the money (remittances)," Hoekman said.

Get OUTTA here! Those hard working mexicans that hold family values to the highest levels are sitting around living off of that U.S. cash being drained out of our economies and sent tax free into their country???

I'm just astounded...  < /tard >
