WASHINGTON, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- FBI agents and Homeland Security officials have been investigating the report of a possible missile fired at an American Airlines plane taking off from Los Angeles International Airport.
Sources told ABC News in Los Angeles that the pilot of American Airlines Flight 621, en route to Chicago, radioed air traffic controllers after takeoff from LAX. He told them a missile had been fired at the aircraft and missed.
The plane was over water when the pilot said he saw a smoke trail pass by the cockpit.
FBI agents believe it was a flare or a bottle rocket, but say they may never know if that's what it actually was, KYW Newsradio 1060 reported.
That would be a heckuva bottlerocket!
When did this happen?
Hillary got herself a new broom, perhaps???
"FBI agents believe it was a flare or a bottle rocket,
That would be a heckuva bottlerocket!"
My thoughts exactly. Does the FBI believe the public with buy that lame story? If so, THEY must be smoking something.
Just going through the motions........
Yeah, the bottlerockets I remember were firecrackers on the end of stick, and they flew 100 yards at most. We used to shoot them at each other like idiots.
BOTTLE ROCKET OR FLARE ?? I do not think so. If he was over the Pacific he had probably already climbed a couple of thousand feet. Not even the Road Runners Acme bottle rockets will do that!
I'm more concerned that an investigating FBI agent believes that bottle rockets can move at such speeds and reach 6000+ feet.
Priceless.
The average altitude achievable by a bottle rocket is about 100-200 feet.
The highest altitude flare available for private use from Orion is the SOLAS flare - 900 feet.
A commercial airliner departing LAX over the ocean would be at least 3500 feet
More lies from the government
Stranger gravity defying things have happened before. You know, fuel tanks have been known to explode on their own. I'm now afraid to pass wind these days.
How does the government get so smart?
And in that other thread, we already stated bottle rockets do not soar to 6000 feet, which is the altitude where the jet was. Incredible any newspaper would allow a report to have "bottle rockets" as a possibility when the altitude was 6000 feet.
James Kallstrom would say it's only a spark from a center fuel tank.
ping
THE PUBLIC DOESN'T KNOW!!!! MSM is asleep, shhhh.
Ahhhh, the good old days of being a kid. I remember some guy yelling at us from his upstairs porch to knock it off and I lit one and managed to toss it in the air and have it fly up on to his porch and go off....
Never ran so fast in my life!!!!
It would be nice if they could be bothered to mention the plane's altitude when this happened.
The FBI has repeatedly covered up incidents of this kind, so you more or less expect them to cover this one up too, whatever really happened. It has become knee-jerk policy. No terrorist incidents allowed. Move on. Nothing to see.
On the 28th of Nov. There's a WHOLE thread on it, but I think this is only the 2nd story that's come out so far.
Nothing to see here. DHS has things under control. Move along.
