I know there's already a thread on this subject,

And in that other thread, we already stated bottle rockets do not soar to 6000 feet, which is the altitude where the jet was. Incredible any newspaper would allow a report to have "bottle rockets" as a possibility when the altitude was 6000 feet.

Even if a bottle rocket was able to penetrate the usual altitude, would a smoke trail be visible by the pilot of a fast moving jet? My guess is no.

Not to mention... Even if a bottle rocket could ever make it that high, how big it have to be for the pilot to notice a trail of smoke when you're moving at 400 or 500 mph?!

And as someone who actually has used Flare guns, their max altitude is about 1000 feet on a good calm day.
