I am not sure how I feel about this act, but I do know that I'm getting a little tired of the inconsistency of the liberals as to when the government is supposed to be taken as an authority. If the government posts the 10 commandments then people might feel coerced into acknowledging G-d, but if the government says Iraq needed invading then they are lying scum and nobody should believe them.
It's the same way with the schools. If they mention that evolution might not yet be a fully baked theory, then you have to protect the kids from hearing garbage from a teacher that they will accept as authoritative. But if they teach kids about condoms it won't affect how the kids think about sex - their parents teach them that.
I think we all know the truth - government workers and teachers can have opinions. Intelligent people can decide whether to be influenced by those opinions or not.
But not to hear the liberals tell it.
Shalom.

I like the sound of this. May it spread to all the other 49 States.

Maybe Louisiana has learned a lesson about messing with God.

Anything that halts this 'progress' of America's 'slouching to Gomorrah' and back to the basics of our Founders is good news.

This is a fascinating bill. It also precludes "a court of the United States" from looking to foreign law and rulings for guidance when deciding cases. Take THAT, Justice Breyer! It almost seems like Louisiana is saying "bring it on!" to the Supreme Court. It'll be an interesting test of states' rights vs. the Supreme Court.

Well the Constitution says"Congress shall pass no law restricting the free exercise of religion" And that powers not granted to Congress are held by the state or the people. So a state can do anything it wants, up to and including establishing a state religion, provided it does not conflict with the state constitution. Where this would fail the ACLU test is if a school accepts Federal funds of any kind.
