Take the libertarian approach...Governments shouldn't "license" any marriage.

So what's to stop someone from marrying their brother? No chance of reproducing.

As a Catholic we often talk about the natural order of life.
We look at how nature was created, including man, and we see how the only advancement for a society is through a heterosexual union, that creates children for the continued advancement of the society. Anything counter to that undermines the underpinnings of a stable society.

You're at a loss because there isn't a valid non-religious reason the state should allow straights should marry and gays shouldn't.
As Hildy pointed out, however, there is a valid reason the state shouldn't stick its nose into marriage period.

It is not normal...
If that does not work, walk out of the room and never speak to them again, because nothing will work.

Argue using sarcasm, satire, irony, whatever.
Mary more than one person. Marry your pet. Marry your favorite tree. Your pet rock.
Show them how ridiculous it is.
Why stop with same sex marriage?

It legitimizes the Village People and Cabaret.

The purpose of marriage is to raise children, bringing well-adjusted kids into society.
Children rasied by gays are more prone to depression, suicide, crime, dropping out of school, and violence.
It's not to the benefit of society to encourage more kids like this.

Broad outlook...
Procreation is the key... What is the incentive for a woman to give birth if all the world is gay?...within 5 generations we'd all look the same if we just use artificial insemination and the same 8 women that will agree to have the children to populate this wonderful world.

Oh that's a good one. How about furthering it with....the government should stay out of the bedroom. It should not restrict or sanction physical relationships between two consenting adults.
Also you could point out the dire statistics of divorce amoung heterosexuals, the costs, the devastation, and the implied consequences to gay married couple who tend to change partners at a higher rate than heteros.
