Wrestler Ric Flair Accused Of Road Rage
POSTED: 5:35 pm EST November 28, 2005 UPDATED: 6:50 pm EST November 28, 2005
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Pro wrestler Ric Flair faces assault charges after a road rage incident on Interstate 485 in Charlotte. Another driver said Flair attacked him and his car.
The driver said he was on I-485 on Wednesday, trying to get out of town for the Thanksgiving holiday and traffic was slow.
The driver said he noticed someone behind him flashing their headlights, so he hit his brakes.
The driver said the car then pulled along side him, police said. The victim said he immediately recognized the driver as Ric Flair.
The driver told police that Flair got out of his car, walked over to the vehicle, grabbed him by the neck and damaged his car.
Police said there are two warrants out for Flair -- simple assault and damage to personal property.
Flair's attorney, Richard Finnell, said Flair is unaware of the warrants. He said Flair is in Michigan this week for a pay-per-view wrestling event.
Finnell said Flair would be back in Charlotte on Tuesday.
Where's Gordon Solie when you need him.
The Nature Boy strikes again.
scared redneck?
Sorry. If someone in front of you hits the brakes and you rear end him you're at fault. In this instance the driver may have thought the following car was trying to signal him something was wrong.
Looks like a nom de porn.
Who says the driver was trying to cause a collision?
The article points out that "traffic was slow".. Possibly to an occassional standstill?
It says Flair pulled up alongside the driver's car and "got out of his car"..
Doesn't sound like 55MPH to me.. Sounds like traffic was stopped..
When someone flashes their lights from behind, and I'm not in the passing lane, I assume they are trying to get my attention..
Possibly I have a tail light out, or the car is on fire..
Maybe the driver just wanted to find out what the guy behind him was flashing his lights for..
Beyond all that, if someone is tail-gating me, I will definitely tap my brakes to get them to back off..
The "reckless driver" is the tail-gater..
The words "pencil necked geek" come to mind.
These guys pull this crap on each other so often as part of the show they forget they arent on TV.
Wrestling has become a joke of who can Diss the other the best. If Rick has a hard time remembering he isnt being interviewed in the street a good lawsuit for half a mill should remind him soon enough.
Lou Thez would have made hamburger out of him.
Not likely, considering how Flair looks today, if he is using steroids, he should demand a refund.
He hasn't had a build in years.
If the guy is built like a car, its roid rage.
If the guy looks like Ric Flair, its road rage.
Wrestling fans have better builds then he does now.
Age has not been kind to him (nor has liquor been kind to his body).
Don't expect any help from Gordon Solie. He passed on th the "squared circle in the sky" several years ago.
Didn't Flair break his back in a plane crash years ago?
ping
Ditto, Flair did some really nice stuff for my handicapped little brother several years ago. I wonder if the "victim" was on a cell phone at the time. If so, that is grounds for road rage in my book. lol
well I wonder if the victim didn't try to get him into it somehow....
I doubt we will ever know, but if it ever goes to trial, it may be an interesting story....
But as I said, this just doesn't sound like the Ric Flair I had the opportunity to meet when his son was at a wrestling tournament that was at my high school....
That happened to me once.
A guy behind was tail gating and flashing his high beams which in the international language of highway driving is a polite way of saying."drop into the slowlane and let me pass"
Instead I revved up to 5000 rpm downshifted into second and hit the gas.
The guy behind me slammed on the brakes and almost went out of control.
I don't blame Flair for being pissed
I could have killed the guy because of my own puny ego.
